Is there an actual chance that Dyson Sharp could actually still be available at our pick? I’ve seen him being ranked all over the first round. If he is still available I think he could be the perfect replacement for Libba.

Seems like best case is Sharp slips to put first. That would be fantastic - he is a clear top 10 player. If not then Xavier Taylor and Dovaston will be available. Xavier is a bigger need but at 191 cms he is in between but more about his defensive traits looks a star.

Dovaston is the small forward we have been craving for. With Libba having to eventually stop (I don’t want it to happen but two more years would be him at 35) - I still believe the solution long term is West. Everyone he goes into the guts he brings aggression and energy. He will finish his career like that great sport player / playing guts and resting forwards. That means we need more up forward. Dolan looks great but not sure about his marking. Artie a good mark but not super aggressive. Dovaston is great above his head and has a big slice of c$$t to him.

Either of these three will be great. Robey with our second pick.

Then trade in a few / best is to get a star / just one in defence (Wilke, Ballard etc) that doesn’t look likely or pay up more for Aleer or chase a forward that could go back - Riccardi, Camamitti (can’t spell). If not journeyman means we are a bit better but still not stars Butts, Blanck or Serong (too small?).

Then JUH snaps out of it and comes back and we get Voss and we are flying.

Would like to add Luca Muratore to the senior list. Has shown some talent with Footscray and is a gun in the strong EDFL league. By all accounts he played well today.

Not as sold on him as some others. Decent VFL player but wouldn’t say he has set the world alight this year.

I wonder how deep we cut with the players traded into the club and what picks are we really going to be left with
There might be more merit to looking at some of those mature aged options this off season

When they are played within their means they can,

JOD if he plays on a 3rd tall is good when he plays above that he gets destroyed, Lobb when he plays on a 2nd tall is fine when he plays on a 1st he is destroyed,

Our backline needs a genuine full back and a smaller lockdown defender both can be addressed fairly cheaply via FA/Trade

We get beaten so often 1 on 1 because of the ease of the ball movement making giving the kicker the best chance to put it to the advantage of their forward

Unlikely Sharp will slip despite the knocks on him. He's close to a Libba type. Works his back off to get the ball to the outside of a stoppage to a team mate. He's got elite leadership qualities. Desirable for a team like Eagles or Essendon Looking for midfield leader in the future. If he slides it would be because teams are looking at the rule changes with last touch and he's too much of a inside player that lacks speed and foot skills.

He isn’t a tackling machine like either Libba or Dunkley
Better ball user by foot and good at extracting the ball out of a contest

I personally find the whole argument of him not having much upside to be a bit silly, he likely slots right into any team round one and won’t look out of place..still think this role should be going to Sanders though

I feel like we wouldn’t have chased Matt Rowell if we thought Sanders would take up Libba’s role.

I’d love Sharp, honestly think he should go super early but if he didn’t and he fell to us
