The problem is that he's contracted. Do you really think after the cash being splashed around, the Saints are going to go 'hey give us your first rounder and change and that's a fair deal'? The guy is/was going to be their captain in 2026.

The far more likely scenario is that they hold firm, draw a line in the sand and back themselves that he'll front up as a professional. Every poster on this board would expect the Bulldogs to do the same thing.
Then it is simple his management just need to say he is staying that ends it. However, I think if they want to keep him the saints need to pony up with more $ and years. If this happens, we are just playing the game for Wilkie's benefit. Until we hear that he is staying there is a chance.

Marshall has one year to go on his contract so is similar to Wilkie in contract. However, we know the cats always get their targets and the dogs normally miss theirs.

That is a big worry if Butters decides next year he is going back to Victoria and it is either the cats or dogs.

I just get the feeling we need to be more aggressive. Look at Mitchell, his side is playing a semi final on Friday and he's meeting with an opposition captain. Meanwhile, the last rites for our season were weeks ago now, so you kinda hope we're fairly active already...I'm sure we are, just hope we're like a swan and furiously paddling under the water.

Not even close to a first rounder. He's out of contract and not in the best 22.

A F2 is likely fair if the Crows don't want a pick in this compromised draft.
If Wilkie is going to be held to his contract by the Saints, maybe a combo of Butts, and Young from Richmond might be a great alternative.
Hope 1 work outs and the other for depth.
Leaves our 1st for BPA, and we still have future draft capital.

Interesting, seems Erasmus was really close to coming over. He hit some good form late in the year and locked in his spot for finals which probably turned it for him. We must have made him a pretty attractive offer.

He OOC in 2026.
Crows want to keep him so we'd have to pay a premium. He's been injured otherwise he'd be playing. Some crows think he's better than Murray.
