The fact that some on here are calling us a basket case of a club before the season has even finished (let alone trade period even started) is embarrassing.

So we're linked to some depth (mind you depth that their clubs are trying to hold on to themselves) makes us a basket case?

We are fine, our most important change will be our game plan, ridding those that don't want to be here will be a bonus overall, it creates a true us against them mentality which hopefully will unite this club.

Mind you, this depth may just surprise you.

Moral of the story, take a breath, and let's wait till the end of the trade period before you nuke the joint.

Maybe it’s known by most but I heard some of his past team mates hate him with a passion.
As far as I know, the only one he has a good relationship with now is Bradley.

His two best mates are Ross Lyon and Adrian Dodoro, which says a lot in itself ;)

Yeah, but your approach doesn't suit the narrative of those who want to do nothing else but crap on the club at every opportunity.

Have seen a few on here mention ‘Charlie requested a trade’

I have seen nothing anywhere, media, social media, TV of Charlie publicly requesting a trade.

All the noise has come apparently from his Manager D’Orazio from Connors Sports drip feeding the media.
If my manager was spreading total porkies about me to unstabilise my place of employment and create rifts amongst my team mates, I'd sack him.( or advise him to STFU)

Some of the posters here are just fundamentally opposed to the concept of trading Charlie 😂. Also copped it when I shared the intel Sydney were into him back in July.

Which is fine, I guess. Just doesn’t make for much productive discussion on here when it’s a very real chance of happening haha.

Very much of the view that losing him will not hurt us as much as many think.

Yes he’s a star but his absence would open up all sorts of possibilities for us.
I must admit I rebuffed your comments based on Charlie stating he would be here next season and that you also were suggesting Cripps was happy to leave.
Seems I was wrong to trust Charlie was being upfront although we may never get the truth of being “open” to leave vs determined to get out.
So apologies there!
I still don’t see an exit being resolved with Sydney and even the most likely scenario with GC would be very difficult but if the offer is good enough, then onwards and upwards!!!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but he is a spud. Honestly can’t believe you guys are interested in him. Can’t even ruck at WAFL level and does 0 around the ground when not rucking.
Having never touched the ball any more than 6 times at AFL level isn't great reading. Granted he's only played a few games, and I don't know the rest of the context in those games, but yeah...

Regarding latest Bluemour re: Harry Dean. I thought he has already committed to us. Is this not official and SOS is trying to poach him? I understand why he would bid on him as clearly his hate runs deep, but if hes already agreed to come to us as F/S in writing or whatever is done to confirm it surely it would be hard for him to back out of that or change his mind?
SOS left Darcy Fogarty on the draft table when he was available to us - why? He would have been competing with Jack. Can’t see him wanting Harry Dean to potentially impact on Jacks position at the Saints. Mind you, he’s got the $ he wanted for his son already…

Look it’s a really fascinating situation, and it’s likely that both club and Charlie will talk sh#t publicly until we get to trade window (Charlie that we wants to stay and the club that he won’t be traded).

If you believe the rumours today (and I do) this suggests it’s just posturing while they figure out a way to get some value for him behind closed doors.

I was wrong on the Cripps thing but do think there may have been some merit in what DQ shared about him being open if the club wanted to go full rebuild. That period from rounds 14-18 would have been a bloody low point for many players and not inconceivable they would have been thinking about their futures with all the speculation about Voss. History might show that as a real crossroads moment for us.

North offering a 3 year deal. Pies 2 years.

Per Sam Edmund
You would think if we were approaching him it would be kept extremely quiet for a couple of reasons.

1. It shows that we are planning for life without Charlie which drives down his trade value.
2. Unlike Collingwood, we operate with a level of respect for players of other teams.

Yeh agree with that but will be 33 in February so just hesitant to give a 2 or 3 year deal to compete with those offers

People mad at the acquisition of a 3rd ruck! Dees just re-signed Tom Campbell as their 2nd ruck. We aren't exactly going to get Max Gawn to ruck for our VFL team are we

HOW TF is Tom Campbell still on a list?!?

Good luck trying to poach him SOS, ya ****ing flog!!!

When a contracted player meets a coach from another team usually means they want out.

No benefit in Curnow coming out publicly at this stage to say he wants to leave. Let the clubs do the trade.

If the trade isn't going as planned, that is when you come out and say you want to leave in trade week.

I agree and that’s why I don’t get why they get brought up as being overpaid. If we want to go target someone like Bailey next year he would be our highest paid player. Our top end contracts are good unfortunately they all just had poor seasons.
I’m not sure they are the way we’ve been moving on semi costly depth the last few years and not replacing them like for like.
I reckon we may have been duped on that good news story

58 games in 11 years is crazy. But appears to be a really good culture guy and is decent enough to step in if they need.

58 games in 14 seasons! Including 16 games in the last 7 years...

Luke O'Sullivan is jealous of Campbell's year per match ratio!

Huh? Then it would be the football department making the decision, rather than the President.

I don't think we should keep him but it's weird (if true). Who else does the Prez wanna delist?

Suggestion seemed to be that some at the club (coaches, list mamagement, playing leaders, who knows) wanted to persist, but the pres/board made a captain's call. I'd assume that "persisting" wouldn't just have been keeping him on the list and hoping it worked out, there would have been supports needing to be put in place with associated resources/funding.

There's flow-on effects for that, there are risks involved if it doesn't work (potentially impacting other players) etc. The board would have considered all factors and presumably come to the conclusion that the costs and risks outweighed the benefits.
