So much talk this year that there were nine good sides and nine bad ones.

Turns out there were four good ones and the rest were nowhere near it. Two pathetic performances by the losing sides this weekend, and those teams were clearly better than the ones who didn’t make it that far.

For a professional comp the standard of some of the so-called better teams is atrocious. Hoping that the genuinely good teams can put on a show on PF weekend.
I don't think Hawthorn were head and shoulders above Gold Coast all year, or Brisbane above Adelaide. Hawks and Lions are just proven finals contenders and the others are not. That's the difference.

It was good to see Dayne Zorko achieve what several people have wanted to do

Sink a boot into Dayne Zorko's crotch

LMFAO who the hell is meant to be David in that scenario?
Scott is the standard as far as coaches go, its a compliment. Fages is a great motivator but I don't know if he's a great tactician or strategist. Scott vs Mitchell is always intriguing, the two evil genius afl coaches (tongue in cheek), most clubs would kill to have. Mitch was a big part of our building towards the 2018 flag.

At least the pretenders have been shaken out now. I'm fairly sure the 4 remaining teams are legit and will give a good account of themselves from here.

It feels like this era of football is creating footballers who are better athletically but have poorer skills, or maybe the game is so quick and congested now that players' skills get neutralised.

Either way, I can't see how it changes back.

Good coaching Dimma. Nice tags, mate.

Very bad week of finals. The final 4 teams are the only legit sides. Should be good viewing form here.
He was so proud in that wasn't he. I don't know how you can watch a team (geelong) last week tag 2 very influential players for us and it work and chose to do the complete opposite.

It's always been his style though, so you could say it's stubborness/arrogance or just that it's not a way he knows how to coach? (but then again how hard is it to just stick a tagger on)

Even during Richmond dominant years, they were giving up 30+ to the elite ball winners. I remember Neale and Fyfe racking them up every time they played the Tigers.

Edit: However he should have tried reacting faster once Andrews moved to blanket King early

He said pre game there was a plan b. But never seemed to execute it.

I recognise it’s a challenging game, skills are difficult to execute under the pressure in finals. But the quality is poor imo and the average AFL player is not great at decision making, they can rarely kick off their opposite foot, and their preferred foot isn’t great either.

The commentators wax lyrical about the players who can actually kick, but shouldn’t decent foot skills be a prerequisite to playing professional footy? It’s bizarre what we’re prepared to define as acceptable, when it’s often way below an appropriate standard for professional sport.

That Richmond side had Dusty, a dominant defence and a swarming pressure style that allowed them to hit lightning quick counters off turnover.

This Gold Coast side have none of these weapons. Their gameplan doesn't seem made for finals the way that Richmond side was.

Gold Coast have had some fun matches to watch. and threw the lot at Freo to get a maiden Finals Win even. But a few players like young Read and Humphrey for example are NOT Finals players Yet. more progress and experience needed.

So the Best 3 Teams of experienced Players have made the Prelims .2 Great matches next week. class prevails.
The Last 3 years Grand Final winners and the 'Smokie' that is Hawthorn.
Best of luck for the Cats to Advance into the Grand Final for you. They played at the Gabba Grand Final I went to, and were great to see go round. Gazza was a great man in these Northern parts too at one stage :brisbane::geelong:
