Wasn’t there a story that Battle and Barrass have already spoken to Merrett?
It’s ridiculous. It's not really that far fetched
Bombers need a ruck, Hawks have Reeves as back up

The finals are where it matters most, and our Midfield as stood up.Don’t be fooled by the finals. We still have an absolute budget midfield. It’s just that Adelaide have even more shit trucks than us in the middle. Fix that up, then watch out!
If the Hawks want to win a flag or two before the 2020s are out it must fix this and jag at least one, preferably two, a-graders immediately. Otherwise this is just North Melbourne 2014-15 all over again.
Against a sub par midfieldThe finals are where it matters most, and our Midfield as stood up.
what - Kelly,Green,Callaghan, Greene, Coniglio and co sub par ?Against a sub par midfield
Kelly was good (very) for a quarter, I don’t think Green played much mid time, Coniglio is not the player he once was.what - Kelly,Green,Callaghan, Greene, Coniglio and co sub par ?
2 firsts, one in the top 10 and a fringe young player, would seem a fair price.
Or 1 top 10 pick and two late teen firsts.
So more than you paid for Neale when he was at his peak.
Seems legit.
If you want Essendon’s contracted captain you’ll have to pony up
When's the last time hawthorn committed to a player and walked away? genuinely curious, nothing coming to mind.Matthew Jelley I’m not sure why that’s funny?
Hawthorn don’t have to trade for Merrett, they’ll give up what they deem fair, and what they think they have cover for losing.
Meek ain’t it.
Sure. Lets have a bet on how it ends up. Neale was 25 and had a year to go on his contract.

Top 10 pick and a player

Well I don't regard Hawthorn as committed at this point. Certainly well down the road, but I don't think there's an actual contract offer agreed in principle or anything. We wouldnt know. Mostly player managers dont leak until the deal is near ready.

But if they do commit to him, has it happened?
Not sure, but they haven’t committed to Merrett. When's the last time hawthorn committed to a player and walked away? genuinely curious, nothing coming to mind.
Won’t the commitments from all concerned come once the main aspects of a trade are in place. When's the last time hawthorn committed to a player and walked away? genuinely curious, nothing coming to mind.
RFAUltimately if Hawthorn can't deal with Essendon, Butters is a free agent after next season.
I don't think they have either fwiw, not yet. Merrett may well meet with a couple of others still too, but Hawthorn looking like the most workable option so far.Not sure, but they haven’t committed to Merrett.
