Are you sure it's never happened before? I can tell you 2 names that for whom RFA offers were matched to force a trade. If a club matches a RFA he has to stay or go in the pre-season draft. It's never happened before. Butters is gone in 2027.
At least respond to the points I made. What the Bombers and his management think is a fair deal is different to the fans.
You aren’t to clever not cashing in a disgruntled player. It’s a perfect example of why the bombers have crumbled in the last 20 odd years.
At least respond to the points I made.
At least answer this.
Still if Merrett is so disgruntled, that he wouldn’t ever return to Essendon.
Wouldn’t it make sense to look elsewhere if the hawks and Essendon can’t agree on a trade.

I have always said that the hawks trade makes the most sense. We have so much water to go under the bridge though. It would. But the purposes of this exercise, can we concede that he’ll likely want a Victorian team challenging for finals? So, Pies or Dogs?
Pies first pick is in the 30s and Dogs won’t trade 10 + F1. Happy to be proven wrong, but it’s just the lay of the land.
He will be a HawkAt least respond to the points I made.

My point is that, hawks fans are saying that Merrett is so disgruntled and that will help lower his trade value, what I’m saying is if he is so disgruntled he might rather go to any club bar Essendon.
I agree, it will be just enough to get him as he wants to leave
Would be madness to trade a gun ruck
yet that’s exactly what you posted this morningAgree. But now that Dodo is gone, it mightn't be as drawn out.would happily take 9, F2 and hurstwaite. move on. of course essendon being essendon won't.
Ok, so your saying our mids lets us down last 2 finals ?Kelly was good (very) for a quarter, I don’t think Green played much mid time, Coniglio is not the player he once was.
There is a reason List Management is pushing hard for A grade mids, after sorting out (mostly) forwards and defenders the last two years.
The prob is its not the money, no players want to play for you - just sayingIf im a betting man, Butters will be a $2m man next year. Essendon losing Draper, Merret, Shiel, Laverde, potentially Ridley. That's $2m alone to a cap already brimming with room.
When a side kicks 48 points from stoppage against GWSOk, so your saying our mids lets us down last 2 finals ?
Bloody hope so, we don’t need your scraps.Comparing the Merrett situation to stringers is laughable.
All I’m saying is that if it’s true and the bridges are burnt with Essendon,
Hawthorn then don’t pony up a fair trade.
Merrett might prefer end up at another club rather than going back to Essendon. Which opens the doors to other clubs.
Take your emotional breakouts to your club pageMitchell is basically the same as the dog owner who takes his dog for a walk so it can crap all over his neighbours lawns without cleaning it up. One bay he's gonna have a flaming bad of turds on his front porch.
I'm bored enought to bite on this.At least respond to the points I made.

It depends if we are a live chance for Petrecca or not? If not, I’d throw in the Worpel compo (end of first round) or F1. The F1 will be close to the Worpel compo anyway in a better draft (assuming Hawthorn make top 4 again, which they should with Day and Merrett in for Worpel)I'm bored enought to bite on this.
It would definitely make sense, but as other posters have said the options are pretty negligible (Dogs & Pies) if he's looking for a Vic contender, and Pies can't pay more than us + dogs with Butters coming next year won't. Non contending clubs have even less readon to bit on a 30 year old by paying overs
The reason Hawks fans have been happy with the public fall out is the major risk to the trade in my view, was Dons completely overvaluing Merrett due to having a big emotion about him leaving, then digging their heels in to keep him. Could still happen, but the compkete fracturing of the relationship makes it seem unlikely and therefore increases the odds of Dons accepting a resonable offer for a 30 year old mid.
For me that a top ten pick (which we have) and either a second rounder or player that will easily be best 22 for Essendon (Hustwaite, Reeves).
That proposed package can be easily matched by plenty of clubs including dogs and pies. I also think Adelaide will throw their hat in the ring for Merrett if it looks like things aren’t going well trade wise. And like I said if it’s true that the relationship is sooo fracture potentially going to Adelaide is better than coming back to Essendon. Do they have any young victorians that could have mutual interest? Who knows, but there’s still plenty of time to find outI'm bored enought to bite on this.

Worpel may not leave yet! I do not feel the compo will be enough for us to let him go…
The worpedo agreed to join Geelong last year brother. Say goodnight.
