Really interesting offseason for the Suns. For the first time, big names are open to coming to them as a destination.

They've worked really hard to create a culture where the kids want to stay and be part of what's happening - something they've succeeded at.

But they're now at the next phase, where (like GWS went through, albeit earlier) players want to stay but they need to make some tough calls to let some go for success.

Make no mistake, the positive press, marketing $$ and memberships - not to mention the buzz in SEQ - would be worth millionsssss for the Suns.

Big watch for me - Charlie deal or no.

If
Charlie is such a hack, why do Sydney and GC want him? I guess we are redefining value when he plays 60 games in 3 yrs and kicks 160 goals....

This is the problem... spinning words for no reason other than to cause arguments...

No one has called or implied that Charlie is a hack...

Their picks aren't valuable and the players they would be willing to give up won't come close to Charlie's worth. Just cannot see how they are even in the frame

Land with views of Bells beach???

Hectares of farmland (used for recruiting), that we could use for future retirement funds??

They were lucky because they gave wce a choice of future picks (ours or theirs,) and wce chose to have Hawthorn's.
Regardless of which way you spin it there is a significant degree of risk with eg giving up a defined first round pick this year for a pick based on a finishing position of another team the following year unless it is one of WCE/North/maybe Essendon or Richmond it is high risk.

Carlton thought at the time their 1st pick they were trading to Hawthorn was going to be 15-20 range, very different from what it turned out to be.

Someone should let Bailey Smith know to chill out… it's not that kind of Charlie he's thinking of.

Yes and that was our decision/risk.
Just saying pure luck from Hawthorn perspective that wce chose their pick instead of ours for Barass.

Barraet said Charlie’s preference in order is Geelong. Gold Coast. Sydney

Our preference is that we don’t give a flaming toss what Charlie Curnow’s preference is.

He only leaves for the very best package. Geelong won’t offer anything truly massive (they won’t part with any of their young guns), so tough shit Charlie. You won’t be playing for Geelong next year.
