I don't G.A.F.F. that we beat Hawthorn. It's next week that matters.

The fact that we have broken this curse that Kennett & Co ramble on about (when it counts/when it matters/knockout game blah blah blah) should be the last thing on everyones mind at the moment. We have much bigger things to talk about over the next 7 days. I even promise not to look into Bay 13 for the next 10 days.

At least let us revel in it for the time between knowing who our opponent will be. 🙃

Happy to win as it’s a requirement to proceed to the GF.

Although I only smile for flags.

No high fives just yet.

Lose next week and last nights win means absolutely nothing to me.

Pretty sure the players and the coaches didn’t even consider this an issue. Maybe supporters care or the past players who were actually in it cared. But i don’t think it’s remotely an issue.

Beating Hawthorn is always sweet but beating this particular incarnation of Hawks, and in a final, is extra sweet and should definitely be savoured to the max.
We will join them on the loser bench if we don't get the job done V Brisbane.

Hawks + Tigers fans will almost get the last laugh.

Nothing in footy feels worse than losing a GF to me.

It's one extreme or the other... All or nothing.

Fagan and his playing group will be analysing the last game against us forensically and won't make the same mistakes again.

How does Scott devise a new strategy?

Can we hold the likes of McCluggage, Neale (I reckon he'll play) Rayner, Cameron, and the Ashcroft boys yet again?

We'll give them plenty to worry about too, but they'll be way better prepared on Saturday than last time.

The indeterminable right now is whether or not a toll has been taken on their legs.

We have overtime now?
Yes, but there are folk out there who have gone through that awful scenario.
Strangely both recent occurrences involved Collingwood.
Their fans endured defeat at the hands of North in the GF replay in 1977 but returned in a subsequent event years later to prevail against the Saints. So they kind of squared the ledger. Though Dom Sheed’s goal also would’ve hurt quite a bit.

I don’t often write lengthy posts, but I felt inclined this morning
I’m feeling really confident about this Saturday
Confidence is a funny thing and often particularly Geelong supporters is based on a gut feel
That being the case, I just took a little bit of time this morning to delve into some interesting numbers
I looked at the top six goal kickers for both teams
Currently Geelong‘s top six goal kickers have kicked combined 256 goals for this season which is 62 more goals than Brisbane top six goal kickers have kicked
Season 2025 has seen Geelong score a total of 2425 points for Brisbane scored a total of 2061
In other words, Geelong scored 360 more points in Brisbane this year
Conversely Geelong had a combined 1714 points kicked against them and Brisbane had 1804 points kicked against them
So Geelong had a total of 110 less points scored against them this year
A very subjective view but an interesting one for me anyway is list Brisbane’s likely team for this Saturday and include Berry and include Neale
Then list Geelong‘s likely team for this Saturday, including Stanley
Line up player for player against Brisbane, list them in the position they play not there likely direct opponent
I think you could be surprised to see that we actually player for player match up on them very well, a couple of outliers may well be Andrews and Zorko but it’s not like we don’t have a couple of outlaws as well particularly employers like Dangerfield and blitz
Point of the comparisons is that while many think Brisbane a chocker block full of stars? Arguably we have an arse full of players that can definitely match them or beat them.
Lastly, we take a look at players that will definitely miss for Brisbane. I have included Hipwood Keide Coleman Answorth and Payne.
These are all players. I consider the best 23 for Brisbane.
For Geelong, we will be missing Stewart and Kolo (arguably)
Brisbane look likely to possibly include two players in Neale and Berry
Geelong may have one in Jack Henry
In conclusion and while I’ve said it myself for the full season, I have always thought Brisbane were the best side regardless
Things change in along season and combined with injuries and what I considered to be vastly improved form from Geelong we are in it up to our necks
Whilst it is always a nice feeling in the gut to feel that you’re up to it to then look at these numbers gives me the confidence that I’m not just over reaching on what an opportunity this is

Bring it on.
As long as the umpires are switched on to their diving staging and flopping tactics which reaped at least 3 goals last game.

Let us enjoy nice things please

To use a bit of boxing parlance , id like Geel ( who are the raging hot favourites ) to do what George Foreman did to Smokin Joe Frazier , just destoyed him and very quickly , and thats what i want the Cats to do to the Lions , get hold of them early and put them out of their misery

Idont want what Ali did to Foreman , he hung around and hung around and stayed in the contest and then went bang . The Lions will take a fair bit of confidence from their last 2 finals wins , especially the Coll one , that was a resounding win , plus theve got a smart coach , the longer they hang around in this game the better chance they have got , thats why i want Geel to dominate them early

Prefer to see something like what Mike Tyson did to Spinks :p

There was no next week if we didnt beat hawthorn.

There is no enjoyment in football if you only wait until after a flag is won.

Think about it

Your really confident but brisbane are the best side regardless?

I dont know how to compute this.

Yep scott pulled some killer moves but lions will be prepared for them now and will counter with their own. Will have to go deep again will scott.
