Not to downplay how good Worpel was for us in the Prelim but Jhye Clark was better I think. Hopefully if the former is coming he has been playing hurt as some have suggested.

Mackie said the other night that he and Stanley would sign one-year deals.

TBH, the silly season hasn't started yet. If he gets interest from elsewhere and they presented a two or three-year deal, he'd be mad not to take it and I can't see the club standing in his way.

I'm guessing very little interest in him from other clubs if he intends to re-sign only a one-year deal with us.

Only way I could see it is if one of our guys with value has some trade deal going on in the background. Like if SDK wanted to play with his brother or Humphries wanted to go to WCE or something, and we somehow snag a decent first or two out of it all.

I can't imagine it happening, but that's the only explanation for there even being talk around this. A couple of assumed late first rounders and/or some fringe players won't do it for Carlton.

I agree it’s highly unlikely. One bit i don’t get though is why he has nominated, and is freely talking about, such a difficult option. These kinds of deals usually take years to line up and unless Geelong is on board it seems a complete waste of time to be talking about it.

And in a perfect world I don't even really want him playing VFL, because it would take ruck time away from Conway/Edwards (if fit). He might still be better than those two next year, but there's not much to be gained (for the club or Rhys) having him play VFL each week.

True, but I guess they're not banking on Conway's health. At the very least, Rhys will be an on field coach for the kids in the VFL, so I don't mind it.

With the 5 man bench likely to come in next year, it wouldn't surprise me if we start pumping games into a couple of Molier, Edwards, or Polk and open up the VFL slots too.

Expecting Scott to get creative with that. With Kolo back, moving COS into a Dan Curtin like role wouldn't surprise me either.

But if it were true then he'd have to be worth at least two first rounders (reasonably early) for a 24 year old, 204cm dual Premiersip defender (hopefully) that can go in the ruck or even swing forward. I'd want more than Marshall and a pick for SDK (unless its Marshall and a top 5 + 2nd rounder)

You're right it is odd that he would be talking about it openly if it wasn't plausible, but is he though? There was one report where he apparently had a preference for us and contacted us. Nothing from his camp since then.

It sounds more to me like the one takeaway that has just been regurgitated by the media so that they can get a couple more clicks in.

I hope that would be locked in because if we ended up trading sdk out and getting Marshall back it would feel like the main event of that trade hasn't been listed. You couldn't risk things changing so the trade would have to happen this year

No idea. My connection is on St Kilda side directly involved high up. Other stuff cooking but won't say at this stage. I will say I'm very surprised at some of the individuals that are involved in the decision making without having a formal role (think celebrities and business owners). I was also told they are nearly debt free

Im surprised considering the TDK & his Clan were up and about us all Friday night after the game. I hear the talk that TDK was well and truly ribbed harassed and goaded into coming down to Torquay and play for Cups instead of cash.
Sit back and watch it all pan out.
I reckon there will be more than one u-turn to come in this Trade/Free Agency period.
