Both Gavin Crosisca and Gavin Brown have just announced their retirements which means they will both play their last games for Collingwood this week-end.

They have been two great champions for the Pies and it is truly a sad day for all Collingwood supporters, and I would expect fair minded football fans of two players who played the game in the spirit it should be played.

Collingwood supporters can only hope that some of the present Collingwod crop can be at least half as good as these two champs were for the Pies.

Yeah they would have finished 4th and nowhere in the Copeland.

PS you can thank MM again, imagine not giving a bloke like Crosisca a game, because he asked could he miss one training session to move house. MM is a real arseh*le.

With the player list MM had at westcoast 2 flags in 10 years is not getting results.

And he wont be able to hide players in the Abbottsford like he did in Western Australia.
What number was Dean Kemp drafted at?

Come on you dickhead! "With the player list MM had at westcoast 2 flags in 10 years is not getting results", what a load of bullshit. You really are stupid. Using that logic, if Essendon doesn't win a Grand Final for another 5 (if they win this year)or so years then it it Kevin Sheedy's fault. Get Real!

Joel, With the player List mick had over here the coasters should have had about 4 premierships by now, starting in 1991, but he really isn't a great coach he is just a good coach, who had a great list to choose from. the 1987 teal cup winners could have had more than just 2 AFL premierships by now. Collingwood Won't win another flag till after malthouse goes.

Getting back onto the subject.

Well done guys on a great career. Crossisca very underrated I think (cool hand Luke under pressure), saw him beat Jimmy Hird a couple of times too, should've got more of a go this year.

Now for Rowdy, one of the best wingers you'd ever want see, fast, skillfull, strong. If Collingwood had have had some half descent key position players in his time he would of been an all time great. Instead he had to be a constant gap filler, in these positions, just a bit small to be able to shine. Even in '90 barring G. Pert I don't think they had a star player up the spine, they won it with there great midfield and the second best small forward of all time (Lethal Leigh #1) Peter Daicos.

Thank Christ for opposition team supporters they hardly ever had the luxury of putting him on a wing. Imagine the carnage he and Darren Milane (when alive, RIP) would have caused, along with McGuane and Wright, with a good spine.

These are the thoughts of a one eyed Bomber, Woods fans may dissagree.

All the best guys.

Cant argue with your unbiased comments.

Did you see Carlton Collingwood and Essendon have reached an agrement between themselves that regardless of whose home gaome it si, whenever they play each other they will split the gate 50/50?

I notice Norff arent included in this. Its pretty hard to split a gate of 3 people.

Your a cruel man Greg, you really hate the Roos, above all else, why is that?

I personally don't know many fair-minded Roo fans, acctually it's about 2 and Shinboners is one of them. Groucho is pretty good too, but I only know one Roo fan whose not a shocker, personally.

This "Big 3" deal sounds good but I just worry about making "deals with the Devil" (J. Elliott), sends a shiver down the spine.

Cheers.

Yes especially their success of the last two weeks and their 14 wooden spoons.

Without doubt Gavin Brown was the most over-rated player of the 90s, most of the time he could hardly get a kick

Have to agree with Don and Greg on this one. With the team that the Eagles had in the early 90's they should have won 4 flags. If Sheedy does not win a flag in the next 5 years, he would have to take a fair share of the blame with the side that they have.
Brown and Crosisca have been great players for Collingwood but really they are only there to provide guidance to the youngsters and should be put in a coaching role at the club which it seems that the Pies are doing, rather than the shabby treatment that the club gave Daics. Greg, how can you be happy with the fact Daics was doing some coaching at the Bombers yet the Pies will not use him with the young players they have.

Stats Magpie Greg, courage he had, but to be a good player you needed to win the footy and use it.

Brown could do none of these things, a very ordinary player of the ball.

Firstly, congratulations to the two Gavins. Haven't seen a lot of them from over here, but they've obviously been loyal servents to their club.

Secondly, yes we did underachieve in the second half of the decade, but if we hadn't had MM, we could still be chasing our first flag. What he brought over here was professionalism, rather than supurb coaching ability.
I don't know what that crap about 'hiding' players was. Would any other club have drafted Dean Kemp? Scrawny as all hell, real country kid, and not that young either. He was a gamble that paid off. If we had scouts in the right places, why didn't you? Would you rather we start playing the Westar reserves and Colts in Melbourne so you can get a good look?

Congratulations Rowdy and Crossy.

Don - I think your comments on Brown are farily harsh and uncalled for.

Brown was a brilliant player when fully fit in the early 90's.

When on the wing he oftened carved up his opponents.

It is sad that he is often remembered for his later years... but what can you expect from someone in an 80 year old's body?

If you want to see true grit and determination, grab yourself a copy of the 1990 Grand Final.

And for god sake don't bag the champion. He was slaughtered by Collingwood's undermanned sides and an abundance of injuries.

I do agree however, that my grandmother could have coached that West Coast side to the 92 and 94 flags with that sort of talent at her disposal.

Matt

Good players both. I really liked the way Crosisca seemed to be smiling all the time when he was playing, it was probably a grimace that looked like a smile, but it gave the impression he really enjoyed playing the game.
