Do players normally wear a moon boot and openly talk about how 'sore' they are, if it's just a standard rolled ankle?
No chance Dunkley can stay with Baz or Holmes for an entire game. He will likely stand next to Dangerfield if he goes into the middle. In that game where they smashed us, Dunkley was amazing and dominated.

On another injury/selection topic, that last game against us they played Neale in the middle after a long time out, and they put Ashcroft to the wing, where he was very ineffective.

They can only have one of Neale and Ashcroft in the middle at any one time if Dunkley, McLuggage and the Ruckman is in there.

They actually looked alot better without Neale in the last two games. Ashcroft was able to cut loose. He likes the responsibility of being the main man in that team.

They have a conundrum with Neale's selection. They may overstack their decks. I would say CS would want Neale in as it could be an immediate injury/sub situation at worst (for them) and it would likely confuse their roles and clog up their midfield. This is actually a problem based on being a team full of highly talented Individuals, as opposed to being a talented Team.

Yeah that's the part where it has fallen down before. Andrews just ignores and intercepts
Ball needs to get kicked ontop of Neale's head if they are one out. If the ball is kicked 15-20m out from goal, Andrew's reads it faster and reacts faster and runs to intercept. It's split second stuff, but he's the best defender in the comp right now, a huge man and very strong. He wants the ball to be dropped short of him as he knows he will get to that ball or contest up in front of him faster than his opponent.

For it to be effective tactics, it needs to be kicked to players around the 50m-60m range, then its drilled in as a lead up pass on the wings (which Andrews cant impact), or a chip kick to a small forward in space around the 40m mark, or pumped over his head to the goal square. Put Andrews in two minds as to whether he has to go forward or back. And no kicking to one on ones with him and Neale unless there is a small forward at their feet.

That was a question Collingwood was having to ask themselves before the prelim regarding Howe & too a lesser extent, Hill who they opted against selecting

The last full game that Howe played was June 28, while for Hill it was a week earlier on June 21, so questions were asked if they could risk either/both of them

We saw them select Howe, but it's likely the extended time missed in terms of full games both had missed then worked against Hill earning a recall

Meanwhile, they took Pendles into a game when he was battling a groin injury on one leg before he pinged a calf on the other. At the Brownlow last night he sounded a little surprised it was the calf that went on the other leg compared with the groin injury he had been dealing with, but surely it's not that surprising as he had likely been compensating for the injury to an extent
And meanwhile... GFC picked Clark based on fitness and training form... It's the ultimate 'we are a team and dont rely on any specific player' move.

If geelong win this we become the undisputed best club of the afl.

If geelong lose we sit third behind hawks and lions.

The stakes here are just massive.

Wouldnt want it any other way.
Won’t be easy but we will win.

Great point thanks for bring that up it really underlines how our club goes about its business.

Just heard Luke Hodge on SEN saying he’s confident Lachie will play, but questioning whether he should be the sub. When you look at how conservative we’ve been with Holmes in 2022 and Stanley this year, it seems like a huge risk.
Honestly, I hope he plays (and is affected, of course). Dunkley is hurt, Berry is out - they are pretty bashed around.

I'm expecting we return to a '22 setup, which means we probably won't.

Stanley to take CBA's, and switching behind the ball letting Blitz take the stoppages. Will free up Zuth to play the Stewart role.

I think Rhys should play, but my god has Blitz been good. He terrorized Fort and Meek, and so much of beating Brisbane is stopping that easy exit clearance.

Blitz turns into a defensive mid the moment the ball hits the ground and does that better than any ruckman in the game, so it's one to watch.
Yes! Stanley should play v Lions... However..
Especially...Don't try fix what ain't broken
Leave Blitz in his combo ruck-mid role.
Stanley CHF, instruction to Stop Andrews
He understands the Defensive CHF role.
Both are same height and he can spoil.
Get ball to ground & brings in Cats Small's
This move will Negate Lions' trump card.
Andrews' intercepts starts their rebound
This also stretches Lions' defensive height
Releases Neale & Jezza to smaller defenders

I got cats and storm in the next few weeks. Cats stopping brisbane b2b amd storm stopping Penrith 5 in a row would be amazing.
Seriously hope Brisbane get through for Melbourne's sake.

Storm are a bit banged up and the Panthers just have everyone's number. Cleary is a freak.

Just pack up the comp if they can win 5 in a row after being 17th in June.
