Annoys the F* out of me that we had the first Irish players who turned out to be guns too, and since then we have done f* all with bringing anymore to the club or maintaining a pathway for Irish players. Our women's team have a couple who are great players as well. Is it $$? Or just other clubs again better at utilising it than we are?

For the past decade the club seemingly prefers basketballers for the Cat B spots.

Joel Smith. Corey Maynard. Austin Bradtke. Kyah Farris-White.

We are also adding Oscar Berry for 2 seasons. https://www.afl.com.au/news/1355179...s-by-signing-college-basketballer-oscar-berry

Wonder if Morris is trying to do us a solid by throwing GC ideas out there and ignoring the Adelaide “we won’t pay overs” crap.

Hope Lamb doesn’t even pickup the phone if they are peddling that narrative to an under contract Petracca.

Didn’t Adelaide give up pick 10 and 16 for an uncontracted 29 year old Bryce Gibbs?

It must be quite costly to go over and scout the Irish players, then pay costs for them to move. The success rate is still relatively low too.

The last one I recall at Melbourne was Kevin Devine. That was 2001 and Melbourne famously had severe financial troubles over the next decade or so. That would’ve made the cost/benefit equation look even worse.

If you think the development at the club is a bit questionable for kids who grew up playing footy, how well would development go for Irish players who don’t have that formative years skills advantage?

Why has there been more success with the AFLW Irish players? The reality is a poorly skilled but highly athletic female player was very effective when the AFLW was full of poor athletes with skills that were on the whole quite poor. Goldrick is a bit of a headless chook out there but she’s very fast. The standard of athleticism and skill in the AFLW has picked up over the last few years so I think it will be harder for the female Irish players to shine.
Nick Walsh was listed in 2001ish iirc?

Honestly at this point we should just stop chasing blokes and focus on the blokes we have actually playing well

4 years on from a flag and we'll have lost Jackson, Harmes, AnB and ruined Petracca and Oliver ( ruined himself )

Don't forget the competition's two best taggers, Bedford and Jordon

Clearly, Bedford or Jordan are someone that doesn't want the ball

Has he met with us yet? Surprised Saints have anything left in the cap.

Didn't hear it in full, only that we are second in line 'due to the King connection'.

Seems like a bit to play out.

Also retirees in Brayshaw, Hibberd, Ben Brown. We must have a shitload of cap space having brought in no one of note for over half a decade.

Lions play 3 key talls often he'll get games. No chance he comes to us

Resigning Tom Campbell, bringing Heath, McKinerny and Kalani in would be some real....

Sugar multiple posts each replying to one quote each and Scythe arguing with mich0 or Dan means you'll get about four messages out of 25 on the page.
