Cripps saying last night how he’s great mates with Charlie and he’s got his back etc etc but surely, as captain, he has to be pissed off about all this nonsense.
I mean, it’s not contract negotiation time for Charles. Get mad and lay it down Crippa!
By contrast, Weiters and Walsh who came out and said if you don't want to play for the club, then go.

I don’t think cats can muster a deal imo
They won’t be able to give what where after
I was thinking indirectly via:
  • 1st rounder
  • 2nd rounder
  • Connor O'Sullivan
Out for something in a 3-way trade

Surely they have a degree of confidence in landing him otherwise they'd not have Charlie coming out stating he'd take a paycut to play there and have him in the Cotton On Box

I don't know, tricky one

Can anyone give any scenario where Charlie to Geelong works? He has come out and said he'll take a paycut to get there, great - but how do they satisfy us?

I can't be bothered playing out hypotheticals that I'm sure someone else has already feverishly crafted!

That one is the media putting mayo on the trade period. They know it won’t happen.

There's every chance he stays with us for 2026 and asks for a trade again next year - they'll just be keeping him sweet on them right up until he signs elsewhere.

Definitely not. Would be a fantastic player for us but after letting Elijah go there's no chance the club will be picking up the phone to Bobby.

He hasn't gone yet & still contracted for 2026.

Has been asked to look elsewhere.

Would need multiple clubs involved for us to get an elite player as been mentioned we dont want picks. If Charlie goes to Geelong it probably wont be for less money they just put the money owed straight into his Bath house or Barry's. Nothing to see here kind of thing.
But,yeah not sure where the star player/s are coming from though and as to which club is coughing it up?
I think should Geelong win the GF the likes of Danger and a few others would retire or move clubs?
Geelong,Melbourne,GC and us, im guessing.

James Sicily was just about free for a good home for a year or two there, with no takers, now look.

If no one comes for Lij it sets up a good redemption story with us. We very clearly have a need for his skillset so the pathway is there for him.

Yeah.
I think there heavily linked with worpel and Marshall, but not sure whether or not there contracted and what the cats will need to give to acquire those two?
So that may take away some capital that they’d need to get curnow

Yep still a big chance of being with us next season.

Worpel is a f/a.
I've found it odd that he's just leaving Hawthorn to Geelong with seemingly no fanfare or investigation by media.

A former BnF winner, just entering his prime, in a position where depth is already an issue is leaving a prelim finals team and everyone has just shrugged their shoulders over it. I think it's quite a big move, Worpel may not be a consistent week on week A grader, but he has some x-factor abilities about him which will fit in with Geelong right now amazingly well.

The fact he's almost tip-toed out of Hawthorn seems weird to me.

I’m thinking they could give us a couple of pubs, a few farms and half a dozen Cotton On stores.

Pretty stock standard soft leadership from the skipper. This is why we need to make Weitering or Walsh captain.

From a Geelong POV there is less than zero chance Charlie lands here. We don’t have the trade assets and will not, and should not, put any of our young guns on the table. He’s not even a need for us - Jez has had a career-best season and Neale is breaking out.

Sydney makes perfect sense, he is exactly what they need on the field, they need marquee players in a NRL-centric city, they have a top 10 pick to trade and could surely also send a F1 or a player or two. I understand Charlie spends a lot of time down the coast away from the spotlight, and Sydney is perfect for this, as Buddy and Grundy would attest to.

Hawthorn don't lose players they want to keep unwillingly without it being a big song and dance.

The fact that they've been chasing big name mids all year, have landed on Merrett who is bending over backwards to get there, etc. tells me that they're perfectly fine with Worpel leaving.
