Definitely the downside of the membership numbers spiralling up.

In 2023 they even put leftover tickets out for sale to members after P3 was filled. Now P1 is full and we're not even getting to P3.

Either way, P2 holders shouldn't get better seats than P1 which for the past three years has been the case for many P2 and some P3s'.
Seating is all a matter of preference, but i agree there are lots of crap MCG seats in P1 from my perspective too.

For years i sat wing ground level (201) the Gabba 13 rows back under cover just below the media boxes
Great seats. But during the finals games over the years we got a few different located seats as most of us did.
Some i did not like in the upper level, others i really did like and that surprised me a bit.

So, made the move to upper level a few years ago just above the interchange bench (423). Great seats.

The Suns Gabba game i got upper level again much closer to the goal area image below.
Was pretty sure i would not like it. It turned out i liked that over my normal seats in that new Deluxe category.
So cheaper seats, that a lot may not prefer but surprisingly i did.

You mentioned you don't like sitting behind the goals and are prepared to pay corporate prices and that's fine.
However, i think plenty of P1 would very much love that position for the GF

I do agree though that a lot of the $501 seats are really not worth anywhere near that much
My 2023 top price seats (same price as now) lower level 50 rows back just in front of standing room was robbery.
Could not see the top quarter of goalposts from our end around the 50-meter mark or any of the two big screens.
Had a great day though even with the loss
They know this is an issue and actually have smallish TV screens on the roof above to help out, but not much help really.
Maybe they put a premium value of seats that are covered and out of the sun and rain?

Also, this year they changed a lot of the dearer seating to the new Deluxe category.
Prices increased across the board but Deluxe went up way more.
Reason being all Deluxe seating has September membership built into the ticket/membership price.
There would have been quite a lot of people in those seats without September membership.
They either copped the increase or had to move seats.
The problem was there was hardly any or no good seats to move to.

So overall i think P1 numbers increased even though that category was full on the previous year's numbers
I hope making another GF does not make the club go down the track of increasing the September membership price.
The demand would be there but making 4 GF in a row is against the odds.

Just over 1/3 of tickets for the committed supporters of the two participating clubs.
Really is a travesty.
Yep. People like to complain about corporates but the fact that 50% of the tickets are reserved for Victorian-based organisations rather than going directly to club members is a joke.

I can’t really argue against it because i’m a member of one of those organisations, other than to say that without the MCC members and AFL members the MCG wouldn’t exist as it does.
Totally agree it sucks for club fans. The only defence is the MCG is 40K bigger than the next best alternative (Perth), so if it was hosted at another stadium the club access would be the same (or worse).

I don’t think it’s right that the Grand Final is locked in at the MCG. This is the deal done between the AFL and the Victorian state government to get govt investment in stadiums. Buying sport is about the only thing the Vic Govt is good at…

Yeah it's what we're use to and feel comfortable.
Sat behind the points post at the Gabba against the Western Bulldogs probably 10 rows back.
The game when Bailey Smith kicked the winner.
It was a great spot to watch the angles that they run , and looking over the Cheer squad, great atmosphere.
Also close to the race.
I would shift there , but I think it's GA in normal season.
We normally sit on the left of the change bench Row G on the lower, wouldn't mind going higher but I love the atmosphere down low so it would have to be close to the front of the upper level.
Only problem is trying to change when it's so popular. Was thinking I'll ring the club about this.
I scanned our seats for the Grannie Row R upper tier , it's not that bad, but it's not what I'm used to, although around mid way on the tier.
Pretty happy with what we got, it will be a great view of the whole field.
Q7 anyone else there.

Exactly where I got this year. 3 rows from standing in M33 (right behind the goals). After fantastic tickets in 2023 I've been unlucky the last 2 years with tickets well back under the stand. It does make paying the extra September club membership a bit painful, but I totally understand it's a ballot and I'm more than happy to be going!

If anyone does have Level 4 Front and is looking to get down to ground level I'd be happy to have a chat about a swap though. :)

Just got my corporate ticket looking to sell at purchase price. Booked and paid for it in June. DM me if interested.

I just had a look at that section via the link below.

I would much prefer to be at one of the goal ends than elsewhere sitting that far back
But totally agree it is a fair way from the boundary, and the slope is just gradual enough to get by.
Unless a basketballer sits in front of you.
Enjoy the game and let's hope the Lions can come away with a win.

Maybe you have already checked this site out. If not give it a go.

Open the link below.
At the top, to the left of Section Map is "enter section number" Enter 33, a pop down menu appears, select HH that's as far back as they have
That gives you a virtual map. Just move it around to see whatever angle you want
From ceiling to floor. right, left etc.

Another way to find seating
You can also just move your cursor anywhere on the map and section number with information appear just click on.
A smaller image version appears. Then click "expand view" bottom right of image.
Then at top left click "row" a drop-down menu appears. Select the closest row letter to yours.

Just checked my tickets in the Ticketek App, they are in my wallet.

Are they supposed to have barcodes attached to them? The tickets in my wallet just state the event & seat details. No barcodes are visible.

The barcodes only become visible closer to the game.

Worse is that those "members" of those organisations then pretty much charge whatever they want on game day to sell their tickets last minute when they had no intention of going to the game in the first place. They should be forced to register their intention days before hand and release those unused seats to the participating clubs.

There's nothing from the club about anything yet, is there?

No captains run, no afterparty?

No events aside from the roar deal (which I missed out on).

A biiiiit dissapointing.

Just found out there is no afterparty, which is a bit disappointing. Not sure why but I do hope we aren't becoming a bit elitist.

Apparently if we win there will be a public event after the game in the Yarra Park in the AFL Festival of Footy precinct. However I suspect if we lose Geelong will hold there's there instead. No idea if the boys and the cup will make a showing but you would hope so.

Are you referring to MCC/AFL members, or other organisations? MCC you certainly can’t sell your seat (or not within the rules, and not without risking losing your membership). If you get a reserved seat in the ballot you either have to scan into the ground on the day, or return the seat in advance. If you get busted lending your membership you run the risk of losing it (though admittedly I’ve never bern closely checked on entry).
