There are clubs that have already benefitted from the old / current system and clubs that will develop ways to manipulate the future system. The only clubs ****ed over by this are clubs like us and Carlton who will get the benefit of neither. There's a fair way to do this and you do it by drawing a line in the sand and saying the new rules apply to anyone not already in the system from now on. Meaning all clubs have the opportunity to be in an equal playing field when it comes to planning. But as usual the AFL aren't interested in fair. It's a kneejerk reaction to recent club bounties that punishes others as collateral damage.

Those changes are absolute bullshit, especially without first seeing how the new new points evaluations play out.

If they go through then all clubs should be awarded bonus points (that can only be used to match bids) commensurate to the amount they've rorted the previous system i.e. Brisbane and Bulldogs would get none, whilst clubs with zero FS/NGA under the old points system would get a few thousand points to square things up.

Port would only really have Lachie Jones as someone who they got through the old system.

Best idea yet. It fits well with the AFL Charter that promotes an even competition.

Bomber's Law (Part 1): if a system, or process, or set of rules, can be made more complex for no perceivable benefit, then the AFL WILL implement it.

Bomber's Law (Part 2): unintended consequences of implementing changes described in Bomber's Law (Part 1) will be addressed by Bomber's Law (Part 3).

Bomber's Law (Part 3): See Bomber's Law (Part 1)

Edit: missing logic

Apparently James Borlase could

So to confirm, the only rule that hasnt been tightened in the Northern Academies... where you can just wander through Coolangatta airport and get a contract.

Nah. They’ve gone from letting clubs pick up players for pennies (Nic daicos was matching with picks in the 40s and 50s) to making it near impossible to pick up top talent.

All they had to do was stop the rorting.

All this is going to do is see some teams get rorted and others do the rorting.

Collingwood had to give up a first round pick to acquire the draft capital to land Daicos. That draft pick turned into Finn Callaghan, so stop peddling the myth that Daicos was essentially a free swing.

I say this as a lawyer, there are too many lawyers trying to run the AFL

No they didn’t.

They traded that 2021 1st to gws as a future pick in 2020 for 2 2nds in the 2020 draft and a 2021 4th rounder.

lol what a ****ing surprise

Port and crows got ripped off for years getting decreased access compared to the rest of the comp and then we get told our access is going to be brought in line with everyone else’s finally..
… and then they **** us over immediately ..

Reckon this is more about Borlase than anyone else.

And Rodan's kids. You can't NGA the sons of former professional footballers. It's idiotic.

Are we thinking this post has all but cost Port Adelaide Dougie Cochrane?
Not personally. I think this covers international eligibility not indigenous.

How much Aboriginal heritage has Cochrane got in him but? Can't be much if he only just found out last year
You honestly believe the AFL will ask for a % of aboriginal heritage to conform if someone is eligible or not?
Thats actual racism.

Give it a rest never meant to come across as racist..... Read the last bit of the post Edmond put up it says you can't just walk though Dubai airport.... I'm taken that as you need a fair chunk off indigenous or international heritage.

Not in 30,000 years has anyone of indigenous decent ever tried to play off travelling through Dubai to claim heritage
