I’m happy to just roll with what we have. Some of the names chucked around to bring in are so sad.

We need to see Logue come back in better nick, playing well above the s**t he has dished up.

Kerch, Harry, George, PC and FOS are where it’s at. So much pressure for blokes that age, but we need at least 3 of them to be considered elite by years end.

I agree. Can't be understated how unlucky we were with injuries and suspensions to key players this year. If we get even a little bit less then that, we will win more games for sure. Particularly if the midfield continue the form they showed in the last couple weeks of the season.

Let me see if I can get up to speed.
  • We started the off-season with 46 on the list
  • Delisted: Ford, Bergman, K Dawson, Teakle > down to 42
  • Added: Spargo > 43
Normally you can only carry 44, but the AFL granted us two extra rookie spots (max 46). It’s still unclear if those two will be retained for this off-season.

If the two extra rookie spots stay:
  • We don’t have to delist anyone else
  • We can draft the minimum three kids and land at a totally full list
If the extra spots disappear, two of the out-of-contract group (Phillips, Tucker, Maley, Payne) almost certainly make way.

Also, any incoming (eg. Jai Serong, Tyler Young, or others) would be taking one of those OOC spots.

So anyone we bring in needs to be:
  • An upgrade on one of those four, or
  • A clear list-need fit that those players don’t currently fill, and our trade targets would suggest these are KPDs, third-tall types, and defensive midfielders.
Is that about it?

Don't forget we need spots to take to the draft

Harvey also OOC. Maybe a chance we rookie one of Coops or Payne, perhaps Phillips but I wouldn't be shocked if all missed out.

Its only 42 maximum without our extra rookie spots. We started last year at 44 and then got Cooper and banch making 46 if we are losing the extra rookie spots then you'd expect payne and maley gone. Then it's the senior spots. We currently only have 1 senior spots officially after adding spargo. With Harvey Phillips and tucker off contract but also fisher possibly retuning to wa.

The AFL’s version of “shut up and buy a membership” cause we figure you will then feel obligated to go to those Sunday arvo games we scheduled against an interstate side.

Enjoy our third string umpires we slot in, who have no accountability anyway.

Then marvel at how your new recruit is fat, slow and was AA once.

If you barracked for a real club, he wouldn’t dare waddle out in front of 80,000 people like a park footballer.

This is exactly the sort of crap that makes me hate the AFL "machine"
This on "AFL Trade Radio" remember
It's like they do everything they possibly can, at all times, in even the most seemingly insignificant ways, to reinforce the "big club/little club" narrative

Yep, hence why at 43 spots we still have 3 spots free for the draft, so long as we keep the extra rookie spots.
I'd be assuming that we dont keep the rookie spots. SO we keep the best of Phillips, Tucker, Maley, Payne and go to the draft with three picks

Playing in the AFL should be seen as a privilege. Well, it used to be.
It’s just a job now for a lot of players and setting themselves up financially.

If we traded Simpkin and/or Duursma or anyone else for a draft pick then we don't need to delist as many.

Tucker, Phillips and Maley might be going regardless.

Hey guys been working overseas. God I love Australia. Came on to read about the massive haul of trades and picks we are bound to land.
Well its like this LETSGOKANGAS, we're on a boat out in the ocean, we've picked up Charlie Spargo & Hugh Jackson from the water, we've essentially saved them from doom, but in the distance there seems to be another object in the water, we're headed over there to see what the commotion is.

You know when we get over there what Brady & Will will be saying..........
