A shame that JUH is broken but not fixable. A strong club like ours can repair players a little wobbly on the tracks. But he's derailed.
I just hope after today the club don't make a desperate play for a JUH because he would be a very tempting proposition.

I just think he is a big risk especially if he ends up at a club with a prominent nightlife meaning he probably has to play for Tasmania or go to GWS and just play their matches in Canberra.

Can we get Curnow and Marshall after today's performance
Whats Curnow going to do with balls that either sale over his head or fall short? He was getting that service from Carlton this year and kicked less goals than Neale while being injured.

Peak Hawkins wasn't doing anything with the dreg service today.

Sure there were times Neale needed to provide a better contest but then ask yourself why so often under no pressure our mids bombed the ball into positions that wasn't Neales advantage.

Dude is an athletic forward and he was constantly in wrestles with Andrews, who loves those, with the ball overhead.

What top 10 picks would we be inventing for curnow?
Agree, he's a long shot. Reckon the Baggers ambit claim will be 2 first-rounders, one within the top 10. And possibly a player. No can do.

I'm really keen on getting Marshall if we can get him. Worpel - meh!

Marshall is a must. Otherwise we are stuffed. Midfield abysmal with a long in the tooth ruck, just can’t get going with second fiddle touches.

We've never really learned how to bring the ball into our F50 with surgical precision and consistency over the years.

Bombing the ball into our forward line from the same altitude as the Yanks bombing Iran's bunkers has been our 'go to' more often than not.

Worpel is coming its done.
You can see why the club want marshall. Stanley and Conway are both cooked and as good as blitz is hes 35. If we can get it done it will help. But what we really need is butters and thats not an option until ne y year.

I still would take Curnow...

Way too early to call Conway cooked. There are certainly fitness issues, but he's very young, and I trust our medical and fitness people. He reminds me of Damian Bourke. A real talent.

I'd be pissed if we are going to pay Worpel $600,000 p.a. The Hawks apparently weren't offering that much, and they would know.

Conway has talent, that's no doubt, but his cooked

What? How many games has he played? How many years has Conway been injured? Of his injuries, how many have been significant ie. 6+ weeks

He’s been out injured more than actually playing. Any consideration other that being a flyer at this point is laughable.

Given Conway’s recent injury being a fracture of the navicular and worse, I highly doubt he’ll be any sort of player for us: at all

At the very least it seems a long road back.

'Egan' and 'navicular' swirl around this one.
I'd agree there's work to do. However, he's only 22 and is expected to be fit for 2026 preseason training. Way too early to write him off. False equivalence to equate Toby with Egan.

As of two weeks ago the bulldogs had agreed to all of his contract terms and from there he has not moved a muscle. We are not miles away for cash for him. I know this year would be hard but I hope today accelerates a move, even though next year is more practical.

He's got a navicular injury.

An injury to his navicular stopped Egan's career in its tracks.

Not a false equivalence at all.

There's a chance Conway will avoid the same fate, but the odds would be concerning.

Crazy talk.

He’s been injured more than actually playing yet we are to believe he’ll recovery totally from a navicular injury?

Absolutely dreaming. What’s your price on jousting sticks?

And your sports medicine degree is from where?
Even if that user is wrong, the old saying is "the best ability is availability" and Conway is never on pitch.

Can't become a better player if you never actually play. Yes he is young for a ruck, and he has shown a lot in patches, but honestly he needs to play at least 15 games in the VFL next season or its looking grim.

He’s a 1% option. It’s a hit for the bleachers. Two year contract at base, but not really expecting going to play.

He’s got 1% chance of playing

Is he?

This is what the club said in response to his surgery - “Toby is a long-term player for us, and with this in mind, we expect his return to be in the early stages of 2026.”

What do they mean by "early stages of 2026" though - is that early in the year 2026, or early in the 2026 season because there's a difference between those two times; early 2026 would be anything in the first quarter of the year so through to March, while early in the season could take him through to May or first 10 rounds of the season

I'd love to see him back, but I wonder if they're almost better delisting Conway with the intent of picking him up via the rookie draft and all but right off 2026 to get his body right without the pressure of taking to the field
