What has been overlooked in the final margin is the fact the contest in the third quarter was bloody hot. But, as we've done all year, we stepped up to the challenge. On this occasion, the step up just happened to produce the best footy of the year.

Zorko probably stiff not to get a Norm. Fletcher super. And Charlie probably deserves more love for igniting our scoring.

So many thoughts rolling around in my head. Just unbelievable our lads managed to get it done this year.

Felt the coverage leading in was rather disrespectful. Not in a rude way, just seemed to ignore the finals ability of this team. Something like 12 of 14 writers for The Age tipping Geelong, the assumption that our poor showing in the QF meant Geelong had our measure, despite the fact we have handled them comfortably twice this year.

How we managed to overcome the loss of guys like Payne, Answerth, Hipwood, Berry and to an extent Neale. All key players and Im sure most of us thought their absences might be the death blow to our season, individually, let alone as a group. Add in the fact Coleman, Linc and Doedee didn't manage to get back either and it really is remarkable. It all contributed to having 5 guys playing in the GF with less than 25 games.

The lopsided free kick count in the first half. Granted, a lot of those frees were there for Geelong, but surely if you are happy to blow the whistle as frequently you could have found a couple more for Brisbane. I noticed we got a couple early in the third, so the umpires quite likely were aware they had been a little one sided.

I thought we controlled the game all day to be honest. It felt like Geelong were just holding on for most of the day, despite the lead changing frequently in that first half. Funny, the commentary team did seem to think it was Geelong in control, Going to be very sweet watching the full replay and listening to those comments.

It looked like Danger was injured, or at the very least just exhausted from his massive PF effort. With Jerremy Cameron injured early, Geelong lacked the fire power to really make a charge. Im not sure it would have made a huge difference, we have handled them both pretty well in the past.

Thats it for now, bit all over the place, but my head is a bit of a mess at the moment.

Go Lions!!

100% this.

Was just a lazy narrative by both the media and supporters, without looking at the bigger picture. We'd won 3 on the trot prior to that, and Geelong had shown their hand in the QF.

Geelong then doubled down by playing Stanley. This threw out what had been a winning formula in the middle around Blicavs (especially after Stanley got his colours lowered in the PF last year, and was underdone leading up to yesterday).

Once again, we win a final that we aren't favoured in - it's becoming quite a trend!

As others have said, when we "flick the switch", no-one can go with us.

Once again, a day I'll never forget, and so glad I could soak up the atmosphere in the last quarter, without worrying about the result.

Dayne Zorko - I think you are now my favourite Lion of all time.
I had to put you in my 5 best as ridiculous as it was who I had to leave out. Felt vindicated when I saw the Norm Smith votes.
Your reading of the play, intercepting, decision making and kicking was 'special', 'elite', 'brilliant', 'scintillating'.
That play to set up Lockie's goal was absolutely farking marvellous. I will always remember that moment with a huge smile on my face.

Just like your smile after the final siren (again). You were my BOG in the post game celebrations and presentations.
And you were the absolute ring-leader when you went into the rooms to sing our song. The biggest kid there, the most excited of the lot. Orchestrating the best singing of the song by a team (possibly ever).
I couldn't stop grinning like an idiot.
Zorks, you are everything great in a footballer.
You are right up there with the greatest Lions of all time in my eyes .
My BOG as well

Watched the replay on Fox Footy last night.......one thing I noticed which I missed during the live game was our fans singing the players song after they goaled......or did Fox put the songs in, in the background? Sounded real to me though, hope it was.

..I smiled, teared up and got goosebumps all at once, loved it.
It was during the ads on 7. But no ads on Fox, so you got to hear it

Thought Fort’s performance was one of the best ruck efforts I have seen from a Lions player for a long time. His connection with the mids at centre bounce and stoppages was brilliant. A great pickup and very undervalued, but certainly has earned his two premiership medallions.

Is anyone able to explain to me what it is about the sub rule that got up Chris Scott's nose ???

Just don't get it .

I think he felt it was an unnecessary distraction for him having to decide whether or not to sub Jezza

In reality he was just annoyed that he was made to look stupid by not subbing him

100% this.

I think we played our GF v Hawks- it took everything out of oldies Danger and Blicavs, and we suspect Stanley was selected because Blic would need a hand in the ruck against your 2 rucks who were both great yesterday.
The fact that your sub came on after half time, had 17 possessions and a team lifting goal was huge and reflected the stark difference in class of the 2 teams. Meanwhile, we were trying to work out whether Martin comes on for a broken Cameron, a tired Stanley, or an inexperienced Clark.

As far as favouritism, I certainly did not get it. Lions best all year is the best, and what you did last year was a harbinger for this year imho. If anything, that loss you had primed your team into action, and you could afford to have the loss.
Our first loss in 9 weeks is the GF. Fwiw, nearly all the Fox crew picked Brisbane

I thought this was quite good. It must be doing the rounds on the socials, but apparently the crowd of 100,022 was only 2 under the maximum capacity of the MCG. Just as well Dangerfield and Cameron didn’t turn up.
