2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

Don’t know him.
What do others on here think about this trade?
Freijah or however you spell it looks like a future gun but Wilkie is a heart and soul player. Damnit we should’ve just let them have Silvagni.

While the view the Saints will hold onto their contracted ruckman has softened, the expectation is that, if they do entertain a trade, their first preference will be to receive a proven player in return for Marshall.

That makes a deal more difficult. The more obvious outcome would be for the Saints to ask for a future pick as next year’s draft is commonly thought to have a stronger field of talent than this year’s.

I’m sensing Geelong are spinning via the media while doing something different behind the scenes.

I don’t think they are realistic about a trade for Curnow but will bend in dealing for Marshall.

Just my opinion of course.

As we should all know very well by now, nothing the media says should be taken as gospel.
They’re all being used by the clubs and managers.

If the $1.5mil figure is true, then it's no wonder Wilkie hasn't come out publicly to refuse the offer. Could be almost twice as much as he's earning at the moment.
That figure is in the vicinity of what’s being offered apparently.

It’s very similar information to what I sent to a handful last week. Including that part that it was still under consideration which is effectively what Twomey is reporting tonight.

•Marshall and Steele aren’t seen as part of the long-term plans. Both are likely to be moved on if the right offer comes in during the off-season.

•Wilkie has a big offer on the table — around $1.5M a year for five years. He’s still considering it. We’re keen to keep him, but there’s a genuine possibility he’s traded if the value is right. Not sure if it’s connected, but Freijah was mentioned as a seriously talented prospect.

•Still actively looking to bring in more players.

I shared the above with a handful last week on here. I said to not share until something comes first. Well I think that’s enough “hits” to say it’s accurate.

How the hell can he turn that down ( contracted yes, I know).
And honestly what would we expect to get get back from the Dogs?
Would have to be huge.

I’m refusing to even consider this happening.
My Bulldog contacts ( and people here know they are strong) is that it is 1.2 million a year. 1.5 would make him better paid than Bont, lol.
All of the stuff that Warhorse poster quoted has been bandied about on all the forums and he had summarised all the rumours.

There is no way the club will, or should lose all of Roma, Wilkie and Steele.
I know we can’t get overly sentimental, but I think that would be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

Fabric of the club still means something, ( or should) and this would be a horrific outcome.

And if that means nothing to SOS et al, what about the need for experienced senior players to get us to finals now that NAS has signed. For two years, that’s all.

I’d be staggered if they were all traded.

So how do the Bulldog players including Bont think about Wilkie being the top paid player at the club?
1.5 million a year does that. Like all these amounts being bandied take 20% off the total.
Even at 1.2, that is about 400k more a season we are paying him, so no wonder he is considering it.
I still go back to Lyon saying we wont be pushed around.
Some potential mid wont be enough, it would have to be extremely heavily in our favour.

He probably comes in behind Bont. Point is that even at 1.4m that’s ALOT OF MONEY. it’s double his current deal

Wilkie is our Harris Andrews, who was totally dominant in the air this weekend.

No way we trade him for anyone because there is only 1 or 2 players better than cal in that role and it’s very unlikely that anyone on or about to be on our list will reach that level in time for a flag tilt.

I reckon 0 chance we get Freijah.

I reckon if Cal is going the target is Sanders.

Without getting into specifics. Is this possible?

Key pieces:
Pick 7 Wilkie Marshall

For

Flanders Sanders SDK

(Trade time is fun 😂🙃)
Switching Wilkie for SDK would be diabolical. The only thing SDK has is he's younger. Aside from that he's nowhere near the level of Wilkie. I just don't see the point at all.

He uses the SEN text machine as his sources. I know several people who text in nonsense and receive follow up texts from Edmund trying to get more information of them.

The ITKs on here get better info than he does.
You don’t seriously believe this do you? Just because you don’t like stories doesn’t mean the journo makes it’s up, or actually does not do a reasonable job.

I can’t see how it happens but if we turn Roma and Wilkie into SDK and Freijah…

I gotta call that a win
Do you think?

Wilkie would be a massive loss. Not sure we can cover him.

I’m sure our brains trust really rate Freijah. Nicknamed the mini Bont. He looks an amazing talent.

Even so, I just can’t see us trading Wilkie under any circumstances.

About 1.2 is closer to the mark, 1.5 makes him the highest paid player at the club.
1.2 is 400k more than he is getting at the Saints, plus there may be incentives, who wouldn't look at it.
However Frejah or whatever his name is, won't cut it, it wont be a fair trade, we get big overs or he stays.
Bulldogs reckon no player will come, so if so, Wilkie stays.
When is his manager bringing out the bullying and harassment claims.
As Lyon said some players aren't for trading. After NAZ, Wilkie would be the next.

Can confirm Stav privately shared this with me last week.

Freijah would have to be involved in any deal (as unlikely as it is).

Not sure how my post ended up on your board. I reported on Flanders pretty early. There is a group of business owners, Hollywood actors and ex stkilda leaders who get together and discuss this stuff and things get leaked. And yes I'm serious.

Not sure how true but heard that St Kilda is debt free. I don't follow you guys that closely. Just post what I get told
