Honestly I’d rather not get there at all than do what Geelong does.
Forever pretending, never contending.
No you wouldn’t.

Haven’t you bounced back quickly after that shameful effort on Saturday.
Facts are since 2011 Geelong are nothing more than a token finalist.
They get their wins at the fake sized oval. And fall to pieces when it counts.
I’d rather not follow football at all then be a cats supporter.
Embarrassing.
That's how Mr Miyagi would have done it‘Bounced back?’
You know I didn’t play, right.
They’re people I don’t know running around a ground. It’s not like someone died. What did you think I’d be doing, plucking my arm hairs out one at a time with chopsticks.
There are players retiring from old age that weren't born when Carlton last won a flag, must be a mint experience for youHonestly I’d rather not get there at all than do what Geelong does.

You are missing the point Phatty, but I get it, still a bit raw![]()
The point was, unlike every other Vic team, you don't have a shared home ground and the stats dont lie Phat, you get to the MCG and fail miserably, especially when it mattersYou didn’t make one. I’m not sure how many times this has to be pointed out but even if you DONT count the 07-11 years we have the best record away from home and interstate in the league. So even in years when we do boast a higher win percentage at home:
- what team usually doesn’t so big deal
- we prove ourselves away anyway
So what false pretenses are we using to get by?
‘Still a bit raw.’ Nice try.

You play finals at the MCG and lose more often than not, even when you are the best team all year. Its not hard to comprehend.so do other teams. Hawthorn are based there. We beat them there. Twice. What’s their problem. We keep beating Collingwood there. Somehow I don’t think we’d have a lot of trouble with Richmond or Melbourne there at the moment. We beat Port in Adelaide last year. We beat Brisbane three weeks ago there.
You haven’t given any thought to the idea that…. Brisbane beat us and not the ground?

Not really sure isolating a few games in 2025 helps your argument, regardless, I dont care, I love seeing you guys shit the bed.
I never said that at all.Since Covid we are 25-11 there. A win percentage of 70.
Depending on actual percentage, ie. points for/against, that win rate would be good enough for 4th on the ladder this season.
Just exclusively with our win/loss record at the MCG since the start of 2020.
It would have been good enough for 3rd last year outright, no percentage necesssry.
4th the year before.
In that period we are 3-2 in finals at the MCG, by the way.
So your argument is basically this:
‘you only succeed because of Kardinia Park. Even though, statistically, if you never played there and played only at the MCG you would mathematically be making the top four every year. You also keep losing all your finals there, even though in the last 6 seasons you’ve won more finals there than you’ve lost, and in that time you’ve gone 4-4 at the other finals venues you’ve played at.’
Not a particularly convincing argument, is it.
No, I’m more inclined to go with the ‘we lost to a very good side who turned it on that we couldn’t match, and we didn’t play our best - it wasn’t the shape of a ground that beat us’ angle here.
I never said that at all.
‘You get to the MCG and fail miserably.’
Where do we get there from? Manuka Oval?
We don’t get there and fail miserably. We get there and 70 per cent of the time we win.
Do you think - and I’m sure you’ll probably mention umpiring or something here - we got to 5 minutes from 3qt on Saturday when we were 1 point down and suddenly Jhye Clarke said ‘hey guys I just realised we are at the MCG’ and everyone just forgot how to play?
How long is it going to take for this idea to be replaced by the far more realistic one that in a sporting contest, the better team on the day simply played better football? You know, the team that also beat us at Kardinia Park handsomely this year
If you hand pick time frames to suit your argument, then you will be right, over a long period time though, you have been made to look better (H&A) by having the only true home ground advantage in Victoria. Your record at the MCG has not been anywhere near as good. Yes a home ground helps, obviously, but you have an advantage in Vic that noone else has and it has made you appear better than you are aa evidenced by your poor finals record.
No shame in it, is what it is.
Geelong have quite a few 3rd/4th place finishes. Par for that isLuke Beveridge has a 54% win rate in finals which is better than Chris Scott who has a 48% win rate in finals.
