In Melbourne that cost might get him from the pick-up then onto the highway with enough time to find the next exit to do a U-turn and head back to the terminal.
In Sydney CBD a few years ago around 5pm on a Friday night it took me 30 mins to get from one intersection to another! Had an almost similar experience in Melbourne with traffic.

Trades that should be used as reference in negotiations

Bowes and Pick 7 for 3rd rd Draft Pick

Or from an NFL perspective

Osweiller, 6th rd pick and a future 2nd rd pick for a 4th rd pick

If we're to take on Petracca's contract.

Petracca and a 1st for a 3rd rd pick.

edit: I don't believe it's fair one bit. But I'd certainly be using them as examples to only be giving up 1st.

But he didn't, when it counted most.

Given the only opportunities he's ever been given to perform in finals, youd have to say he was one of our better players for both.

Consistency is great and if he can get that during the season then awesome, but I think his finals performance gave us a glimpse of the true competitor inside, especially considering it was his first taste of it.

He's one I'm keeping 100 percent.
He was far from one of our better players vs the Hawks, he got 4 touches

Was very good vs the Pies, but he still just doesn’t have that complete trust with me yet

If youre judging by finals performances, then we probably need about 18 new players.
It's fair point.

I'm happy to give those I think have another level another chance. Perhaps they were overawed by the occasion and didn't play to their talents.

I just don't think Keays has another level.

Are you telling me teams don't try harder and run harder during finals?

I think everyone can see this with their own eyes.

In fact it's a scientific fact.

"During finals games, players covered on average 11% more total distance, and the greatest increases in total occurred during rotations in the second half of matches.

Not only did players spend a greater amount of time running at moderate to high speeds – but they also had to accelerate hard at these speeds. That is, players accelerated more often from a higher velocity, with less time between accelerations."

You can read the whole article here:

Induvidual indurance will never be the difference maker in the finals, especially if that is your main weapon.

If you expect to out work your opponent in a final I think it's the complete wrong attitude to start with.

Expecting it to be an arm wrestle and expecting to win duels and contest whilst also executing is the right attitude.

And I know it's not nice, but I do think that's Keays main strength and everything he does is as a result of the hard work.
Nothing here suggests players with worse endurance catch-up to players with high endurance. They play to a higher level than their baseline, but there’s nothing to suggest high endurance players don’t the same thing, maintaining that difference in workrate.

Regardless, I think it minimises Keays’ other qualities. You’d have an argument if we were firing on other cylinders but we had so many issues, most notable for Keays was the absence of his counterparts. It’s like Peatling in a midfield without Dawson and Soligo. Both are limited players that would struggle being the main guy, that doesn’t mean they aren’t finals players.

Those rules only apply when it's a Victorian team benefiting.
Roles reversed the media kick and scream to make sure it doesn't happen.

48 hours?
~40 players on the list are flying to Sydney for a 2 day piss up Wednesday, coming back Friday.
Would have to be in the next 24 hours, because Tex will no show on Wednesday.

But was his home invaded by machete wielding gangs?
friday avoid GIF

It's going to be a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong 3 weeks

This made me angry and im not even a Crows supporter. Are they deranged? Rachele is 22yrs old and is going to be a jet for another 10-12yr for you guys. I honestly wouldn't straight swap him for Petracca who is 30 and has the type of chunky physique that can clap out very quickly. Let alone his questionable commitment to football. Its not evident to me that he really even likes football. Hes the sort of guy thats just good at it so he pursued it but would prefer to be a celebrity chef deep down. If you get 4-5yrs service out of him it would be a huge win. Pick 14 and Pedlar sounds about right to me but to be fair I dont know enough about Pedlar. Pick 11 in the 2020 draft so he represents a solid investment from the crows and im sure will give Melbourne a good decade of service. I dont know what they smoking in that Trade Radio studio but it must be strong.

I guess the initial premise you put forward was the sides would never suddenly run further in finals.

Anyway, I'm willing to let this one go.

I'm never going to convince you and likewise my mind will not change on Keays in finals.

I would not have him in the side but you would.

That's fine.

I personally believe as a neutral that pick 14 and a couple of future 2nd round picks is probably around the mark for someone of Petracca's talent and age, you probably maybe have to pay perceived overs (from your perspective) but I think it would be huge (not just for the short term) if your club managed to trade for a still contracted Victorian born and club playing superstar.

I say this partly cause the Suns have pick 6 and the fairly overrated (imo) Flanders dangling in from the Dees as it stands (and the Dees seem keen on Neddy)

Trac still has at least 5 high quality seasons left in him imo.

I personally would do it myself, you are pretty much in the flag window as it stands now, the Dees seem to be embarking on a list rebuild/refresh. I know your club has taken a conservative approach to this trade and other dealings, but I think it's worth rolling the Dice if you want to grab that elusive third flag.

If we pay all of his salary, 14 should be enough.
What are you estimating his salary at? If it’s (say) $1.5m x 4 years then that is significant overs for where Petracca is at NOW. I wouldn’t be ponying up strong draft capital if we’re overpaying on salary.

Put the other way if Melbourne want his contract off the books then they need to discount his trade value.

Keays goes through severe peaks and troughs on form.
His trough just happened to align with the rest of the team.

I dont think its proven hes not a big game player.

We don't get angry anymore. This is just standard Victorian media coverage for anything relating Adelaide Crows.

Finals, not big game.

I've stated my reasons fairly clearly why I think this is the case.

No fitness advantage and no space. The.finals game nullifies his key strengths.

I'lll stop posting on this though, as I'm happy to disagree and I want to keep the thread on topic about rumours.

He had a good year but the worry was when the pace of the game went up he would be a liability and it played out that way.

I think the whole leadership argument is rubbish, we have enough leaders and the club needs some space from Tex.

Sometimes everyone needs a different voice.

It just has all the hallmarks of being an ugly ending rather than a fairytale one. The consistency of Tex's performances aren't going to get any better and he certainly was found wanting in the finals. It's not going to get any better from here.
