2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th

Leave Sunshine Coast, drive around Australia, to end up in Darwin. Put car in a shipping container and send it to Dili, Timor Leste. Drive around country and cross to West Timor (Indonesia). Then ferries to Flores, Sumbuwa, Lombok, Bali, Java and Borneo. Drive to Malaysia and Brunei, and back to Kuching Malaysia. Ship to Port Klang Malaysia (mainland). Then Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Georgia, Armenia and now in Turkey. Lots of twists and turns with border closures, disputes etc, but that is what we ended up doing. Tell your wife she is on the right track and it will be something you will always treasure that you have done. In three weeks we have been gone for 2 years. The plan is it will take us another 4-5 years to finish. So lots of other routes, adventures ahead.
Absolutely love this.

Hope you’re writing a book/filming a doco to record this amazing adventure.

Hasn’t even been in the leadership group yet has he? Needs to concentrate on improving even more right now.
Would need to give it to Sincs for a year or two first.

Windhager has leadership vibes. Sincs seems to be a kind, laid-back cruiser. I think you'd need to get Wood to captain short term or something.

90% of the role is sacrificing your own time for publicity and press commitments. Wood sacrifices his spare time anyway. It would barely change anything for him.

We have driven our car from Australia to here. We left home October 19, 2023 so nearly 2 years to here.

I vaguely remembered that but wasn't sure that I wasn't imagining it. Great effort. That would be a bigger ordeal getting through the bureaucracy than the driving. It would be an incredible way to see the world. Amazing effort.

That's both inspiring and unsettling.

We went to Metung last weekend and I thought that was a long drive.

We drove our car from Australia to here. Stage one is from Australia to Europe, then 3 months in Morocco, then Europe, UK, Africa, then the Americas and then home. Easy when you say it quickly. Its myself and my wife. She is an amazing traveller and as adventurous as anything. See you in Europe.

Back in the late 90s I went to worked in Germany and stayed with some Orange people. The guys I were staying with had driven a Citroen 2CV to an ashram in India. I hadn't even realised that it was possible at that point. Incredible photos.

Mat, I think if the club keeps Nasiah’s family happy then that will take away a lot of the pressure he may feel in re-signing in the future.

I’m sure the club are all over it. We have some great people involved in player welfare.
I wonder if we do anything specfic for him around his faith? I didnt realise it was so important to him.

Could be a small thing, but small things matter, just ask Battle

came for the jelly Kelly.

Stayed for the road trip tips.

I thought a month driving around Albania Montenegro and Italy was wild!

Driving in Italy is life shortening to be fair.

It actually is. It's a great spot but a ridiculous distance. They need to move it an hour closer to Melbourne.

In more positive news for the club, Max King has blitzed his skin fold test

Love the line from Korne that's almost just about gratitude from Wilks

Edmund saying it's all about money from the Wilkie camp and Korne just referencing that we were the only club to pick him as a mature ager.

Would love him to get a pay bump and stay as skipper, actually can't think of a different option for skipper if he leaves.

Don't agree with just overpaying guys to come in and play the same role, does seem pretty disrespectful. Could've just given him a pay bump first and then said we aren't paying any defender more than him.

But at the same time, $750k to play professional football is a lot better than $170k to be a full time accountant and play SANFL.

Perspective is a wonderful thing

I don't disagree. If Wilkie ****s us around so that we go in a defender down because he won't make a call he's a dickhead. We need a decision now so that we don't have another year like we did without Battle.

I've personally lost a lot of respect for him after him being one of my favourites for years. The club should offer to bump his wage a bit and extend him but then demand that he makers a call now so that we can shop him around to other clubs if he wants out. If Essendon, WCE or Carlton will match his wage but give us better compo he can go there.

Time to chase Wade Derksen.

"Still to play a game in more than two seasons but the Giants love him so much they didn’t even entertain trading him to Melbourne, despite the Demons pushing hard. Converted from a 34-goal 2023 into becoming one of the best key defenders in the VFL with 19.5 disposals at 76.7 per cent efficiency, 6.9 marks and 4.3 rebounds, making the Team of the Year squad and being unlucky not to be in the final team."

**** I hate Barrett can't listen to TR after 3.00 pm. He talks such unmitigated shit.
i had a look at the lineup and decided 12-2pm was it for me,gettable pair and gabelich, but listening to cornes right now,hes a dick, but hes not afraid to sledge anyone(as long as there not sitting beside him)so thats pretty entertaining, carved up half the geelong team this morning, either for there mad monday efforts(close holmes sniff dempsey sdk)or because they are shit footballers(jai clark)

when i saw the barett team i think there was 3 and the other 2 were just as bad,i think johnson was one,so that was an easy decision

We drove to Geelong and back a couple of weeks ago..at least 5 mins of planning and now looking forward to our next adventure.
I've always wanted to do that, but the risk of a car jacking in Norlane was too great.

So we looked up alternative trip and found a place called "Sunshine". It sounds lovely!

Totally agree with this.
