2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

From a poster on the Pugs board:

Well he's going to have major regrets this time next year when he see's our boys going up to collect their premiership medals and he realised he threw away over $2 million dollars + a premiership (2 things he'll never get at the Aints).

Talk about salty🤣
Curious how they go from 9th to a flag without Wilkie.

I suppose Darcy and Croft will be better for the year and Weightman comes back but that defense is still utter garbage

There’s a school of thought that Butters will leave PA end of 26 and would move now if PA released him. Maybe they would do it now to get a better deal than if he leaves as a free agent in 26.

Saints should move heaven & earth if there’s even a sniff, this guy is a ‘needle mover’ and hard as a cats head.

Even if we have to move Ro on, miss out on Flanders give multiple firsts plus Steele we should do it.

I love the idea that we are ignoring salary cap rules, but short of gifting him farmland Geelong style, surely we’re running low on money

They are utterly deluded.

Just had one on the Wilkie thread telling me I should be applauding the dogs for having a crack at Wilkie.

You know I probably would but I’m not really sure they did.

As a few have mentioned getting a contracted player to commit to a trade is only half the battle. They didn’t even get that done let alone the much more difficult second half of that.

They had a crack about as much as I reckon we did a O’Callaghan and Rowell, difference being if they’d said yes we would have gone in properly

Tom Morris saying he was close to accepting the Bulldogs offer, wtf! he’s contracted, one does not simply accept another one and leaves . It’s such rubbish.

I’m glad Steele is staying also, wouldn’t have gotten much in a trade and maybe his form can bounce back. Deserves some success at the club.

steele is the one we need to move on ASAP regardless of the pick we get

Yeah, I just wanted to see how these things permeate.

I won't name names, but I was hit up by various ITKs from multiple clubs and fed them little pieces of bullshit and it all then got repackaged as "info from sources" or as "a bit of smoke".

Some of the details got repeated on radio and fed into tweets from journos etc.

Disappointingly, I left some really nice breadcrumbs that should have made the story slightly more believable that nobody picked up on.

The weirdest part was when a group of people on here started banding together and claimed I'd deleted posts from earlier in the year about Nas. Not sure if that was somebody with alts, or a shared false memory, but it was interesting none the less.

Overall I think the board did pretty well. I don't think anyone bought my little yarn hook, line and sinker. But it clearly did influence the commentary.

Just my little love letter to the bigfooty off-season
Brilliant. Getting a bit tired of Flog Tom Morris being able to get things so wrong so consistently and then bat up the next day.

Tom Morris was close to joining MENSA. If only he'd spelled his name correctly

Last time I give any of you the benefit of the doubt! You know you can get a dopamine hit from tik tok, gaming, vaping, booze or drugs?

He’s a restricted FA anyway so Port will just match next year if it gets to it.

Just such lousy reporting. As if Willie could hat accept a deal. I know it has been said before but it’s just so trashy.
Even Morris trying to clap back to responses on X - he just doesn’t seem to understand the industry he works in. It would be surprising if he didn’t stop for a second and consider loads more money. But it never meant he was going to be walking out of the joint.

Popped over to check on the Pug board.

The latest salty post suggests Luke Power should get in James Barratt’s ear and remind him he is behind all these other defenders now and he should join the Pugs in 12 months

You can’t imagine this type of comedy😂 🍿
