well he's not exactly the classic "missing piece" of Hinkley-era myth-building, is he? so why not be a realistic optimist instead of... whatever the alternative is.

looks a solid player for a wing/hbf type role but has competition. compared to Farrell he's not as long a kick, doesn't get the same sort of disposal count, but may have been disadvantaged by starting as sub (4x this year). good luck to him. actually good luck to them all.

Being in Canberra, I've watched a fair few Giants games in my time. There were a number of games where I found myself asking "who is that silky number 10 on the wing". He had not come across my radar prior and I assumed he was a really young player. His composure, ball use and engine were impressive with a silky left foot. I am quite upbeat about the pickup.

An important addition to Port. We have our fair share of superstars already and what we need most is improving the quality of our foot soldiers. Jacob does that and has a higher ceiling than most on this board recognise.

Plonk him on a wing and let's see what he can deliver over a season.

Wehr is a good pick up as cheap depth (no trade required), but also plays in what is potentially our weakest position in wing. He is a nice kick and enables Burgoyne to go back and play as a small defender/half back which is where he has played his best footy in my opinion also.
