2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

Who attacked you about Boyd ? I'm not sure you needed to be a Rhodes Scholar to think Boyd was going to have minimal impact and going by how Max started the season its no surprise he played some midfield time , its amazing what a person injury free and fit can do.
On Boyd - I think there were plenty that liked his physicality and attack around the ball. It really wasn’t until after Round 1 that people turned on him. I know I did from training attendance, albeit I didn’t particularly see much match practice post-Xmas.

And Hall was such a low key acquisition with a non-descript end to ‘24 that he wouldn’t have been in many people’s 23, even up until Round 1.

Don't agree on the Hall statement , Old mate Mike was very keen on him early on in pre season , i must admit after watching him the year before at Sandy i was bit shocked with Mikes reports about him but once i saw him playing i sure was impressed

A little game for the lip readers out there until we get some trade news...

What is Braddles saying in the image above?

"One is quite perturbed by the inadequacies of one's cohort.

If thou couldst inform the cohort that an exemplary effort would be preferred then one's teacher would be most mollified".

The Dogs board is hilariously depressing now, contemplating getting May or Frost. And one of their “ITKs” has said Zak Jones may end up there.

Bevo is such a blessing.

They should be dominant onfield with that list and stealing wilke and jsos from 12th placed spuds like us.

Instead they are unserious bedwetters onfield; and Reject Shop buyers off-field.

The dogs are living through what would have happened to us if we didn't fire GT.

Gubby has a similar look and mannerism to former Bombers great Terry Daniher. Love the laid back approach, steely determination and humour. You can see with him a no nonsense, straight forward approach that gets deals done. Couldn't you picture him either sitting on a hay bale, or on a bar stool answering all of those questions?
Obviously does not suffer (journo) fools gladly.

Twomey -

Rosas gets done today and then a few days of nothing is coming up. (Thought Flanders was nearly done according to Cleary?)

Doesn’t know how much money the saints have left - potential money in Steele and Marshall outgoing might open up some options later.

“Are the saints going to throw their hats in the Humphrey chase?, doesn’t matter because the suns won’t do it”

“Talks have progressed on Rowan Marshall, more likely to get done.”

I wonder if there is a world where we try to keep banking cash for future years?

if we swap Marshall for SDK, some in the media have suggested that it’s a robbery for us.

If we throw in Dougal to be a replacement for SDK and pay his full salary - essentially banking it for future years, does anyone have any issues?

Same with Steele, if a club came and wanted him, would you be happy to pay most of the salary if it means we keep it in the cap this year and free it up for next?

I was convinced on Hall watching him round 1 in Adelaide - first time I’d seen him.

So I’m going with saintmike65 if he thinks this Fincher kid is a good fit.

Love a good death ride.
Either
Don't like the prospect of death riding Geelong, who typically start weak and come into finals strong. Especially with Marshall
Worst case is a late first round pick, which is still better than the late first round this year in a compromised and middling draft.

Imagine the flipside and the wheels come off for a Season at Geelong 😍

Will watch the Gubby interview again just for the lolz

Tell you what we have 4 staunch people in RTB, SOS, Basset & Gubby leading the charge
Not sure about Bassat, and Lyon enjoys feeding thr chooks, but Gubby and SOS both despise the football media. That performance from Gubby yesterday was a product of a couple of things
1. A proven media face in Misson has left, and SOS or RTB wasn't going to do it
2. Saints want to get on the front foot right out if the gate.
The answers were perfect as they were ambiguous.
Plenty of cash to splash
We aren't finished
We can go again next year
On Marshall, we'll have a look what's offered in the next couple of weeks.

This is all message sending. Aggressive, targetted, you don't like it? Bad luck, we don't care.
However the trade with Gold Coast with straight swap 7 for Flanders sends another message. We are going all out but we will trade fairly for a contracted player.
However if you want to FA you will FO ( hope you are listening Geelong).

"The tension in this discussion is whether Geelong should give up a pick in this year's draft or next year's draft."

* Because someone on here became upset when I previously posted an easily obtainable, highly used gif based on a Mexican food ad and featuring a young girl, I have decided to make my own but featuring a more mature “female”.
