Yeah, what I was most aggrieved about was allowing about half a dozen absolute plodders in that Pies side to become premiership players. You just don't know if you'll ever get the chance to make amends.

I had a very depressing beer with a friend at the Cherry Tree pub in Cremorne immediately after leaving the ground and basically said that exactly out loud - felt like it might have been our big chance and there was no guarantee we'd ever be back again.
Lol.
Anyway the 23 Pies are pretty comfortably the worst flag winner of the last decade. But losing that game got us another year of Joe so I'm at peace.

Of the last 25 years I think the 3 worst premiership sides would be Pies 23/Dogs 16/Eagles 18. Not sure of the order.

18 Eagles didn't lose a game in Victoria that year and finished second on the ladder. They weren't the best team that year (lol Richmond) but pretty comfortably ahead of the 23 Pies and 16 Dogs.

Looking at some of the other top clubs top 10 in their B&Fs compared to ours makes me wonder why I wasn't more confident about us winning the premiership
I know players abilities look better after winning a premiership but we had such a stacked team even after all the injuries

Even Gunston winning Hawthorn's or Cameron at Collingwood
Had good seasons but are pretty limited in the way they finish games
Keays 4th at Adelaide. I get that the coaches would love him but they need midfielders at the top who can actually win them games
Probably been asked and answered. But anyone know why berry got Fagan medal and not Hipwood or Payne?
I suspect it was because both got through to the penultimate game and missed the GF. Hippy and Jack didn't play finals.
I think it’s time to bring in medals for blokes who played finals I reckon. Maybe a silver medal and gf winners get a gold one. It’s BS.

Glad things worked out the way they did, I was at that semi final when we lost to the Bulldogs by a point. But if we made the grand final that year I don't see any way we would have beaten the Dees that night in Perth.

Hearing us referred to one of the big clubs just does not compute for exactly that reason.
I like to think we've got solid foundations now, but there's always a nagging worry.

Has anyone come across the video of the in game radio commentary from SEN, 3AW and MMM etc for the game as yet ? Came across one last yr that was put together within a couple of days afterwards. Just like to re-watch or re-visit highlights without having to listen to the 7 or fox feeds.

I remember thinking on the day that we were witnessing the Colliwobbles in action when they couldn’t kick a goal. If only we’d finished them off, would have been an all time choke job for a number of reasons. But fair play to them for hanging on
In 2026 I'm expecting an undefeated season, if not I will be microwaving my Membership.
