2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

* Matthew Clarke has stated we have 5 main list spots

What's this "project" bullshit? People said the same thing about Ashcroft. You're not that smart, mate.
No actual draft watchers said that abiut ashcroft.

It was universal that he was at the very top of his draft class.

A few in the peanut taller had other ideas.

That’s nothing like Sharp this year where opinion of clubs and recruiters is genuinely split.

I must say it was fun going through the 900 pages you lot added today with the benefit of knowing the full details of the trade before going in.

You went from burning Clarke at the stake to cranking his hog for him back to burning him at the stake within a few hours.
My favourite was when everyone immediately melted at seeing pick 16 even though the news clearly stated that it was a complex deal involving multiple teams and picks.

Can you explain how bringing in a 2x premiership defender whist also moving up in the draft order is a fail?
We gave up a big asset for a player who is not a position of need. We simply picked a player up because he answered the phone as opposed to headhunted a positional need

While Geelong is out there saying "we need a ruck" and then getting Rowan Marshall to agree to join we seem to just be calling people up based on the basis that they know where Scarbarough Beach is and picking our targets based on whether they want to come home for a surf

If we were doing this properly we wouldnt have 2 defenders and a midfielder at the end of this trade period. We should have 2 midfielders and a ruck. If we tried to get that done but couldnt, sack the person who tried and failed and try again next year

Continuing to fail cos we tried isnt a excuse for failure when its all said and done. Its a results industry and not just a effort one. Until we start trading in players we need instead of those who like Scarbarough Beach we are not going anywhere as a club.

We need to get back to the days of trading Jack Redden in is the reality...

In a pretty poor draft I think the main part is moving up from 16 to 12 while still getting in Starcevich.

The rest of the picks involved will end up as junk by draft day.

The later picks will come in aswell

For example if we bid on Annable at 2, Brissy will have to use all of 16, 22 and 23 to get him

Another reason why 33 is way overs for Young

Sam Edmund saying it was “centred on” Starcevich and pick 16 threw me off, to me that implies they’re the major pieces of the deal.

Give me a spell.

I really don’t understand the concern by this board. We get a borderline AA defender. An upgrade on a pick to help ourselves with the minimal top line talent that is in this draft along with picks to match bids on our NGAs and Banfield and trade in Young.

What has Clarke done wrong here?
Traded pick #3 last year. Still madt.

Didnt Clarke say in his presser yesterday, the guys havent done their final rankings... and now he blows 50% of our draft hand in a trade......

Reckless to trade draft capital when we dont even (internally) know their value?

Damn, this thread is absolutely flying right now.

After all the initial hype about MC pulling off a heist, the full trade details actually look pretty fair overall.

He’s done a satisfactory job in my book. Clearly, we either have someone in mind later in the first-round that wouldn’t have been available at 16 (Farrow perhaps?), or there’s a plan in motion to trade up again, maybe targeting one of those Gold Coast picks.

Welcome, Starc, hope you have a long and successful career in the wings.

Honestly I don't hate that deal- I think 16 to 12 is more of a meaningful upgrade than 23 to 33 is a downgrade. In a supposedly weak draft having another selection before a bunch of teams have had a chance to draft their first choice youngster is of real value (particularly if you try to forget we could have had pick 8 if we'd made the obvious choice between Carlton and Hawthorn last year.)

It also stops being a good deal the first time Starcevich cops a head knock, but viewed in isolation that's a decent trade.

Clarke could trade a diamond for a potato and some people would talk it up as part of the master plan

Clarke has failed once again. Just accept it as opposed to justifying it
scared the office GIF

The problem is the Eagles probably don't do that deal. I wouldn't. Duursma is widely considered the best player in the draft. I can't see the Eagles not taking him.
Yep agree
I think we may trade pick 2 depending on what Essendon offer
We will take Duursma with pick 1

Not a position of need. Are you ****ing blind. Starcevich and young shore up our defence. Cole can play WAFL. It frees up hough and/or ginbey.

We are getting Dev as a mid. And another likely as rookie.

And the mids mids mids for the draft.

The ruck, yeh that will have to wait, unless there's a point deal to the suns that includes Knobel!

As on brand as it is, I don’t see us trading Pick 33 for Young. If that’s the ball park, we would have just done the deal with Pick 37? Not sure Richmond were holding out for a 4 pick upgrade in the 30’s.
