I'll finish by saying David Swallow is a better footballer in 2026 than Phillips and I base this on watching both players play AFL the last 4 years.

I don't put down any of our players, and I'm not commenting on recruitment, but I watch a lot of VFL as well, and David Swallow would routinely be a 30 possession 2 goal a game player.

Maley has the size for ruck or genuine KPP with a very hard physical element to go with his spring.

Considering we have little young tall depth I'm disappointed they're not both in our 2026 plans.

It's a fair point. I like Finbar's aggression and marking and durability compared with CCJ, so would've kept him over CCJ.
Not sure we need to keep both, as I think we'll pick up a fwd/ruck in the draft with less raw skills than Finbar like say one of Emmett, Hetherton, Ah-Mu, Curtin or Ludowyke.
So whilst I wouldn't be against keeping Finbar for 12 months, if you shop him now, there could be a bit of demand and you turn a rookie pick into a pick this year or next year.
