Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

I think 2 and 13 for 5 and 6 is fair.

Going into the draft with 1,5 and 6 would be a real nice. The later picks leave for matching Williams, Evan’s and BB.

Daresay it's player dependant cob.

That player being Duursma. Rosa isn't going to move up unless it's guaranteed they can land who their target player is.

So throwing 2 at them and keeping 1 like we're just going to take Duursma ourselves then just use their picks probably isn't remotely realistic.

The question is, would we be happy ditching Duursma for say 2 of Sharp/Lindsay/Cumming/Schubert after (presumably) taking CDT beforehand.

I wouldn't do 1 & 13 for 5 & 6

If he wants to play for us then why did he go to the draft combine and put himself in the shop window for other clubs to browse?

If the eagles have guaranteed to take you and thats the club you want to be drafted by then just say No to going to combine.

And we should have hinted to him that maybe it's not in his best interests to go to the combine. But we are such a bunch of woketard rule followers now that we would have done nothing to discourage his participation in case we get told off for breaking the rules and saying something we are not supposed to.

do elaborate on your preference at 12?
I think there’s a decent chance someone slides through - like a Sharp, Cumming, Grlj or Lindsay

But let’s assume they don’t, Dovaston would be the dream for me, he’s a game changer and has so much in his arsenal.

I also rate NHH more than Farrow but do acknowledge he’s an even riskier pick.

I’d steer clear of Schubert and Marsh.

Rosa’s comments that he had let both us and Richmond know that they are interested in moving up the board is pretty interesting. Suggests pick 2 could be a real option.

That’s a very nice outcome.
Hopefully a big want for CDT.
That would be a beautiful thing

Even if they do, they’ll have Pick 7 (8) in hand which they’re getting for Flanders.
I expect that will be included in a deal for Petracca.

I’d imagine the Suns would want to keep the lower of the two.

Pick 7 (8) and a future first would be around the mark for Petracca.

I mean sure, but Rosa himself said he contacted both us and Richmond and said priority was to get up the board. It didn’t sound like #1 or bust, which is would be if duursma was thier only motivation.

Suggesting dons only want duursma is mainly BF speculation.

Taunting me, with how great that would be.
But wait I can go one better.

Trade 13, 34 & 38 for pick 7

Trade 2 and future second (saints) for 5,6

Pick 1 Duursma WC
Pick 2 CDT Bombers
Pick 3 Grlj Tigers
Pick 4 Robey Tigers
Pick 5 Sharp WC
Pick 6 Cumming WC
Pick 7 Schubert WC

The Eagles haven't "guaranteed" to take him just because he is a NGA. Kid is hedging his bets as any reasonable brain would do. There is no guarantee that any club is going to take him either. Last year most were sure Jaxon Artemis who won WA's MVP at the carnival and performed well at the combine was going to get picked up in the 3rd maybe 4th round. He didn't get picked up at all. Went on to be South Fremantle's best 1st year player and won a flag. Was it a mistake for a club not to grab Artemis, that remains to be seen, but he gave himself every chance he could to be noticed and is still doing his chances of being picked up at some not harm at all. Williams is doing the same thing.

They are super keen on CDT as well.

If they miss out on Duursma they are still eying off pick 2.

Starcevich is a great pick up imo, (caveat being his head knocks of course). Unlocks intriguing scenarios around Ginbey, Hough, Baker and McCarthy's utilisation. Durability aside I reckon he is a far better pure defender than Barrass personally. Heard nothing through this trade period about fixing our ruck situation which is the most dire position on our list.

Maybe someone slides, Grilj would be nice around that pick. NHH is too inconsistent for that pick imo.

If you or somebody like you were running the club we would win 20 wooden spoons in a row.
So as a list manager/recruiter, I should tell a teenager to potentially throw away a guaranteed 2-3 year contract on an AFL list so I can rookie them?
That's ****ing malpractice. And if I was a parent of a young player I'd never let my kid go anywhere near that club if I knew they operated that way.

Your take is moronic. But that's not particularly surprising.

Agreed, but one of those will stay with the Suns so there’s a very clear avenue to getting a top 8 pick regardless of which they send. Surely they’re not sending both.

As for matching, our bundle of 13+34+38 is worth 1717.

Only 8 clubs have that many points in total, let alone in a viable range to move around (e.g Richmond have enough but Picks 3 and 4 do nothing in this conversation). One of those eight is GC themselves. As of today, there’s very few clubs who can enter into this discussion.

Only Essendon have a viable path to coming close (21, 27, 30 = 1708). Maybe that changes after more deals are made, but we still have Ryan and Chesser to go through as well.

Going to be a fun draft day, for sure.

I like your first option.

Should have enough dash with Baker and Ginbey back there.
as much as I like Baker as a half back, he creates so much chaos and turnovers when he plays on the ball and forward of centre. If nothing else rotating him a few times a game will give opposition coaches fits.

Taunting me, with how great that would be.

Lol.

How good would this look.

Harley and Duursma - Vic Country
Sharp and Cumming - SA
Ginbey and Hewett - WA

There is some seriously talented, interstate rivalry, BSD internal team competition to behold.

THAT is the core you can build a premiership list around.

I've calmed down a little, but not anticipating it to last very long.
The 4 pick upgrade on 17 to 13 better get us a significantly better player, or we'll have missed out an extra decent player at pick 22 like Curtain, Swaddling or Rodrigo. Otherwise we might miss out on bundling the picks required to get one of GC's top 10 picks.
Sad The Office GIF
This doesn’t really make sense
We only get the “extra decent player at 22” if we don’t take Starc. Yes there’s 23 going out the door but 33 is coming in and chances are there both crap anyhow

How the **** did you twist “wokeness” into that story. The kid wants to play footy at the highest level and has every right to.
