Curtin to go the big slide like jack williams did due to being a barge .

He is huge and he monstered everyone in the colts .

Then struggle a bit more at the champs due to not having as much of an advantage.

At afl level he will be on guys his own size
Curtin has had health issues before this year I believe which set him back quite a bit.
Upside is preety big with him

He's unreliable in front of goals and drops marks he should take. Issues I raised were kicking and marking.

He's an athletic beast absolutely and good at ground level for a player of his size. (Note I never said he wasn't this)

A ?KPF that cant kick set shots reliably and who drops marks he should take. Do you see how that is an issue?

He might be a unicorn. I dont think he is and I dont think we can risk pick 2 on him. If we do and he is I'll be happy to eat my words.
His technique is fine though, he’s not like Archer Reid in front of goal, I’m not worried about his accuracy long term.

The dropping marks thing is barely an issue, he still clunks most of them and regularly takes ones he has no business taking.

If you go and watch full games of his and isolate all his actions you’ll see why he’s the undisputed 2nd best player in this pool according to literally everyone who has watched this crop, clubs and recruiters.

So sounding like pick 41 for chesser
Since we might only draft 3 players unless noone bids on Williams and/or Banfield, I wonder what is our plan for 34, 38, 41, 53 and 58.
Crazy number of 2nd & 3rd round picks, which we might need more next year. Obviously we'll probably bank some for 2026 on the night, but surely we do something before that to upgrade the picks this year.

use the 30s with 12 to get GC's(Port's) pick 7, then the others to match Williams/Banfield, should a bid come. Potentially move them into next year if they don't.

I had the idea that your FA compo is taken directly from the team getting it. Like the current bidding system but without adding any picks.
So Brisbane want OA & We deserve #2 by the AFL formula. Brisbane shell out picks equal to that 2517 points.

Free agency was invented so movement could be easier with nothing else "equalisation" about it.

From day one I've always been on the mind that the salary cap space the player leaves behind is the compo. USE IT to try and get someone. If pick 2 wasn't up for grabs I'm so sure West Coast would've matched or re-signed him long before this was ever an issue.

Yeah williams is probably 3rd best WA behind farrow and Rodriguez it wouldn't surprise me if he was bid on before whan or before Curtin is taken

He was on clubs radar then killed the combine . We will have to give up picks I'm sure .
His athletic skills are great when he is only playing against the clock.
Were his football skills tested at the combine and if not what are they like ?
Lance Collard tested well at the combine in his draft year, i don't think his footy career has progressed at the Saints.

Word is we can officially be ruled out of Jack Steele

2 things that a lot of young key forwards struggle with and can improve on is timing their marks and set shot goal kicking. If the athletic traits are there (would have liked to have seen more jumping ability) then he could be anything.

If we can get pick 7 for Sharp or Cumming then I don’t see the issue. Get a highly rated inside mid and the two players with the highest ceiling.

CDT is a gun and clearly in the top 2 of the draft - you take him [BTW he is a mid/forward, not a ruck in the trues sense of the word] I am big on him!
I watched him live at the Metro game. He was good but not great. Not list changing.

There are a number of posters who have watched a number of his games (in person not just a narrow set of highlight reels) and have stated (1) he is not the best ruck in the draft (2) he is not in the best 2 KPF's in this draft and (3) the fact that he can help at clearances following up is a must because he will not be winning many HO to advantage.

Part of the reason Jackson at Freo's are so good at stoppages and clearances is that Jackson has Brayshaw, Serong, Young and Bolton to hit to. Make it Graham, Kelly, Harley and Hall and the Jackson impact would be negligible.

In testing, his agility and running were good but his jumping was sh1thouse. What attributes do you really want from a tall option?

If we had a great midfield, I could consider pulling the trigger. We do not.

with so much happening, I have forgotten about Liam Ryan. good to see more picks coming in so we aren't caught short.

Amen

If we get pick 41 from Carlton we will have enough lower picks to get Young from Richmond.
As for Liam Ryan i would hold him to his contract. You only trade him if we get a fair deal and he seems to be St. Kildas
least priority. Yes he might be worth less next year we may never know but i think he is worth more playing one more year than some token pick this year.

Would it be better for Banfield's career to spend another year getting coached at Claremont than playing in the beagles ?

Why would we bother trading ryan for a 30s pick next year ?

We need best 22 players or decent draft picks this year
Help with matching bids next year and can be traded up for large F/S and NGA groups. We dont have the list spots for many picks this year.
