Sydney are absolutely mad letting him go if that is correct.

He is the player that completely unlocks Gulden, Heeney and Warner. Good luck to them playing those 3 without him.

Likewise, we could swap one of the most unaccountable mids in the league for one of the most accountable.

I’m all in for essentially trading Simpkin for Rowbottom.

This is Dunkley 2.0

He’s perfect for LDU, Sheezel and Colby.

He is a MUCH better footballer than Windhager.

I don't agree or like that Archer is talking on behalf of North, it makes us look pathetic. Nobody wanted to go to Carlton when they were a perennial spooner, it isn't just big club vs small club. Players aren't stupid, they do not want to go somewhere that is going nowhere. If Collingwood spend the better half of ten years in the bottom half of the ladder, much of it in the bottom four, they will struggle to get good quality players go there.

Our list management, recruiting, development and coaching has been shit for a long time, who would want to come into that? The appeal Clarko initially had has waned given the way we have been playing the last three years. A good successful club has a strong board and president, they have a good CEO that has football smarts or surround themselves with people that have football smarts. They get a coach that understand where the modern game is heading, have strong recruiters and list managers, good development coaches that ensure their players can play and sustain a good pressure game.

How many of these boxes do we tick? We aren't a bottom four club because we are a smaller club, we are a bottom four club because we haven't been making good decisions in terms of the people we hire and the standards we set. Things are better than they used to be, but not where they need to be in order to be a contender. We either set higher standards or it is going to be more of the same regardless what the AFL does with the draft, free agency, etc. We just do not have the leadership that does what it needs to do to be successful like we had in the 70s or 90s. Development used to be our strength, Archer was there from the U19s where we dominated. Look at the runts we are producing now. Would they get a game under Pagan or Barassi? Geelong develops well, Collingwood develops well. Collingwood has brought in a lot of potatoes and they are still a contender. Need to stop whining about things beyond our control and execute well things that are in our control.
Yeah, except Carlton never had trouble getting players in regardless. Agree it is a bad look for Archer to be doing this whinging.

I know there hasn’t been much support in here, but I’d be in for Aleer.

Even just for depth as Logue and Corr will be gone at the end of each contract.

GWS wanted the Saints F2.

I’d leverage the situation slightly and offer our 2027 R2, which will get pushed out by the Tassie picks.

Getting a ready made key defender for that (probably pick 40ish) is a bit of a no brainer imo. I think Comben, Dawson, Whitlock and Aleer is a good group to build around.

It strengthens the list more for the now, which some want also.

Ideal scenario for me would be to screw the Pies, screw Jy, and deal with the Swans and Blues exclusively.

Our shared objective being we help the Swans acquire the picks they need to get Curnow, we get Rowie, Blues walk away happy with three good picks.

So does this sound realistic?

Swans out: pick 11, F1, Rowbottom, pick 32
Swans in: Curnow, pick 26

North out: pick 25, pick 26
North in: pick 32, Rowbottom

Blues out: Curnow
Blues in: pick 11, pick 25, Sydney F1

The mystery person starting with ‘J’ is James Rowbottom. It’s all starting to make sense now……

How dare NM demand a high return on a required, contracted, player. Simply should just accept whatever Collingwood are generous enough to offer.
Ease mate. They're having a tough time.

Got no itk sources, but I feel some confidence about getting Aleer and a few lesser names coming to us.
Aleer only has 5 letters on his name - so not many options with 4 or less letters in their names
