Presumes Bombers gain some picks for Merrett and want the Duursma trio.
I'm not really sure why we would do that

You'd think the only way we'd get Rowbottom would be a big pay increase and Parker convincing him to come.
i mean, would it really be a bad thing to use one thing we should have plenty of?

I know there hasn’t been much support in here, but I’d be in for Aleer.

Even just for depth as Logue and Corr will be gone at the end of each contract.

GWS wanted the Saints F2.

I’d leverage the situation slightly and offer our 2027 R2, which will get pushed out by the Tassie picks.

Getting a ready made key defender for that (probably pick 40ish) is a bit of a no brainer imo. I think Comben, Dawson, Whitlock and Aleer is a good group to build around.

It strengthens the list more for the now, which some want also.
I dont think he's that great, but at a minimum at least we'd have some depth for taller defenders. Chom's play style and past history means he is at risk of injury. I really hope Logue and get some form - he looks like a good footballer st times, and I wonder if it's just a lack of continuity that has affected him.

Did the st kilda deal flak over because they ran out of cap space, or that they would only give a 3rd rounder instead of a 2nd?

By the time compensation picks wrc are giving out this year, our 2nd round picks arent going to be that high. Just offer GWS one of those, and may be upgrade our 4th rounder for their 3rd or something like that.

At least we'd get someone who could start in the 23 for a draft pick, rather than another Brayden George type who promises much, but hasn't even taken the field yet. We need improvement now and not in 3 years time.

If we pick up Aleer then you'd think one of our older KPDs will either be moved forward or paid out. I'd still like to trial Logue forward/ relief ruck - if he can regain fitness.

They've thrown Corr forward a few times. I wonder how much he'd improve if he trained as a forward all pre-season.

Rowbottom is really not that good lmfao. Some serious overrating going on in here. Yes he’s defensively minded and tackles a bit, but honestly from the swans games I’ve watched, I’ve found his disposal to be very poor. Last thing we need is another shitty ball user through the guts.
Us Norf supporters are bizarre hey.

Jy Simpkin 👎

James Rowbottom 😍

Which is exactly why Simpkin was removed from the middle.

It's funny as the Swan didn't want Urquhart because they had Rowbottom. I posted that a little while back.

Not suggesting Urquhart is poor by foot as I've NFI.

It would be great to see 6 weeks ago once the first cuts were made what our target list we were going hard for?

Sounds like Spargo was there and in the absence of any other suitors was a pretty easy trade.

All this Jy, Aleer, Rowbotton action in the past 2 weeks is a result of the big clubs flexing and leaking to the hungry and willing media. Like a pod of Orcas on a trapped whale.

I trust Brady and Co. stay strong to the chosen course and remove the white noise. No chasing shadows. F*** the media and their attention seeking antics.

If Carlton get 11 from Sydney, they’ll have 10, 11, 22, is there a chance we could manipulate the Simpkin trade to get up the order a bit - example.

Carlton give - 10, 11, 54
Carlton get - 25, 26, 39, COL F1, NM F2

NM give - Simpkin, 25, 26, NM F2
NM get - 10, 11

Collingwood give - COL F1, 39
Collingwood get - Jy Simpkin, 54

Therefore we get 2 shots in the mid teens this year and the trade is essentially Simpkin for pick 11 and 3 seconds for pick 10 let’s say. Then we have the chance to draft say Dovaston and Farrow/Lindsay/Schubert/Marsh

Collingwood gets Simpkin for a reasonable price.

Carlton gets all the points they need for Dean and Ison this year and Walker next year.

Some may not like but I think this is a fair-ish outcome for all. Thoughts?

It surprises me from Niall and Ryan as they are generally unbiased news breakers (in my opinion) and it is weird for them to use their platform to pose their opinions.
Jake Niall's brother Ben is a former player manager, had DeGoey on his books, he's certainly not as biased as others but it bubbles to the surface every now and then.

Got no itk sources, but I feel some confidence about getting Aleer and a few lesser names coming to us.
Question is, do you feel any confidence we'll get him at a reasonable price, in terms of the draft picks?

Couldn't really care if they give him stupid money, assuming its heavily frontloaded.

We will pay an inflated price as the buyer, but I think a f2 may do the job for the club.
