2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

* Matthew Clarke has stated we have 5 main list spots

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

I just can't see us making a series of convoluted trades like this, moving pick 2 on just to try and move back up to pick 3 or pick 5 seems like a lot of energy spent to end up no better off.
IMO we just sit tight and wait for teams to approach us with deals, if they end up being ridiculous overs for us we take them, otherwise we just take 1,2 and 13 to the draft.
Clarke trying to get clever and involve himself in Petracca/pick splits trades does not fill me with much confidence
I'm expecting any potential pick trades to be multi-team trades for this reason.

Trying to do a mock draft right now for top 30 picks is harder than I expected and with the amount of picks now locked up in the top 40 to teams that will be using them to match bids I have our pick 34 moving up to 29 at this stage on the night (assumes a few things including Sydney offloading pick 11 to Carlton and Nth using their picks to trade up for Carlton pick 11 and Melbourne getting both GC picks 7,8).

Really depends now on where the club has players on their rankings list and could see us going to the draft with our current hand plus taking four picks outside of matched bids for others.

Sorry to intrude, fellow Mexicans, but I honestly don’t understand your trading strategy.

Giving away a former first-rounder for a late second, then paying a second for a fringe KPP coming off an ACL with little to show for it, that’s puzzling.

If you’re paying a premium for potential, how much upside is left in a 27-year-old?

Makes me think we were far too generous with our OA/Starcevich trade. We probably could have squeezed pick 2 out of you.

Must be the 1st time I've ever called WA people being called Mexicans.

In isolation I take your point but from the outside looking in, it feels like the club has neglected the little things and the standards have dropped and that's partly why we are in the position we are.

Yes it's only three picks but that logic also applies to Richmond. So why are we the ones who compromised. Yes Richmond are preparing to bid for a father son but we have at least two player we will need to bid on so points might be as relevant for us as it is them
Richmond have wanted pick 34, so Richmond fans are probably saying the same thing on their forums. Why did we compromise with the eagles.

Perhaps Venezuelans might be a better fit, given you’re a state removed from the heart of the AFL universe. :)

Can’t see them missing out on one last chance to rort the system properly. 7+8 for Petracca and a bunch of sh*t picks works for both teams.
the hard thing is you can only bring as many picks as available list spots and these picks in the 3rd and beyond are low points or worthless. GC are in a pickle, which at least points to a somewhat improved system in 25.

Pick 2 - most would expect we can get 2 x first round picks for this. Like 5 and 6 with 13 thrown in.
Or 7 and 8 from Dees with later pick going to Dees.

But I think it will probably be a pick slide like 2 for 5 and a F2. Not what I would do, but what I think will happen.
I think I could see us being the 3rd club that gets involved with the Hawks/Ess Merrett Trade.

Possibly something like below...just depends how much Essendon want CDT and if 5 & 9 is enough for us, but it would give us a great opportunity to get two of players like Sharp/Cumming/Lindsay/Dovaston and we keep 13 and go to the draft with 1,5,9,13, 31,34,53,58 and still have opportunity to trade to 7 or 8 with GC if we want to or with Carl for Pick 10.

GetGive
Ess2, Haw F1 2026, Haw F1 2027Merrett, 5
HawMerrett, 419,Haw F1 2026,31, Haw F1 2027
WC5,9,312,41

I realise that. But Cripps is there for his experience and will probably finish the season in WAFL where his nous will be invaluable and Basso will be back up for the back up.
For the love of God. The man's name is BAZZO.

It takes a special effort to be the most annoying Brisbane poster in here but somehow you’ve managed it

Well done

Now do us a favour, take your elephant stamp and jog on like a good lad

I just reckon we're going to be highly disappointed in any pick split we do. I was all for trying to move up for one of GC's picks but with that seemingly out of the question I'm really not keen on moving down from 2.
And if we're honest most people are only proposing we split pick 2 because people are reluctant to take Sharp at 2 and no one really wants CDT.

WGAF! Did you know who I meant? Yes! Get a life you pedantic prick.

I’ll continue to spell it BAZZO because its the respectful thing to do and I am grown up about it.
Make an attempt to spell the bloke's name right. You had already been pulled up on it. It's just basic respect and common courtesy.
