  • Tylar Young (Richmond) arrived at West Coast in exchange for Pick 38.
  • Deven Robertson (Brisbane) has agreed to join West Coast and will be signed on to the rookie list after being delisted by Brisbane

2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

* Matthew Clarke has stated we have 5 main list spots

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

We are asking the question of why he is worth pick 38 and its been a key point of the discussion... Im happy to hear something more clear and precise then "its not what I mean" though
Ok but you’re arguing against something literally nobody is saying.

People have pointed out he has played well either side of an ACL, nobody is saying he is better for the knee injury or that doing an ACL is a good thing for his development.

The distinction between the two is as clear as the distinction between ‘than’ and ‘then’.

Hang on I’ve found the issue, carry on.

smh this is such a weak draft, of course the year we have good picks is in the pathetic weak draft.

…NOOOO, NOT PICK 38 OVER PICK 41!!!
In isolation I take your point but from the outside looking in, it feels like the club has neglected the little things and the standards have dropped and that's partly why we are in the position we are.

Yes it's only three picks but that logic also applies to Richmond. So why are we the ones who compromised. Yes Richmond are preparing to bid for a father son but we have at least two player we will need to bid on so points might be as relevant for us as it is them

You legit need someone to step in and be a guardian with your internet access to make sure it's used correctly. We may be able to find someone trustworthy with legal qualifications on this board, perhaps in this very thread.

Can’t see them missing out on one last chance to rort the system properly. 7+8 for Petracca and a bunch of sh*t picks works for both teams.
They won't have the points unless they trade another player out. They currently have just over 5.5k. Trading out 7 + 8 is just under 3k points.

Even if they get 24 + 28 back, they lose nearly 2k points. They also have Addinsall this year.

Depends if they want to go into deficit or not. Not sure who's coming through next year.

Can’t see GC not matching a bid on Patterson anyway, there’s also no chance we bid on Uwland and Patterson at 1 and 2 to make it as difficult as possible for them.
F1 for points and no bid at 1 (2 we may trade so can’t guarantee).

GC would be pretty happy with that I would have thought (getting Petracca, Uwland and Patterson).

I don't think we've done too badly. Including Dev we've added three B22 players. Dev will absolutely be a walk up start. Yeo is done.

Got three first rounders too. Add BanJu and the NGA boys and we're laughing.
Yep, Yeo is a ticking time bomb. Be good to see him out there again for as long as he lasts (no injuries in preseason please). Cripps not far behind, may yet retire?
Dev could flourish back home in a new environment.

Re Young - 2025 and our leaky defence, Cole/Duggan and how much criticism they received. That situation has been addressed now. Cole would be concerned, looking more like a beagle. Just the mids now, could do with a proven gun zippy crumber, instead of a bunch of maybes. Not sure what's happening with ruck?

Generally I agree with what you’re saying.

Ryan for F2 was good value, the FF3 going back is largely irrelevant but also a bit why did we do that.

Chesser for 41 was always on the table, I was hoping for a F3 on top but maybe pie in the sky. About right, still a shitty situation to find ourselves in for a former R1 pick.

But on Young - 38 is more than I’d have paid but it’s also less than Richmond were asking initially, and more than we were offering initially. People saying it’s a deal in the 50s weren’t on the mark. I had it as 52+F3 for Young and F4 in the ‘what would you do’ thread, because Richmond simply were never going for 50odd on its own. 41 about right. Three picks too high, a touch annoying but not world changing.

When you look at the trades done around the league, if Team A fleeces Team B, everyone in here posts “see we should be doing what Team A is doing”. Nobody ever looks and compares to the dogshit deals or looks from Team B’s perspective. You’re always comparing yourself to the winner, even if that’s a different list manager each time.

When we look through a West Coast lens, we only care how we’re doing in the deals. I agree it looks like we’ve taken ever so slightly unders on these fringe deals, not materially given how irreverent the differences are, but understand concern about the precedent it sets.

But it’s like the “we always concede goals late” argument. Every team in the league thinks that. We’re only ever looking through the lens of the absolutely massive wins, refusing to acknowledge there was some other pleb list manager on the opposite side of those deals.

Truth is, as tabloid as they like to make the whole week, most trades finish with both BigFooty boards going smh not the best deal we could have gotten, and they’re all probably about fair as a result.

I reckon the same people crying over 38 for young would be the same people crying if we paid pick 13 for petracca.
Lolol love the idea of creating ridiculous hypotheticals that are absolutely never going to happen and then claiming people would freak out. We sold the farm for TK, and paid approximately 13 for Baker (both out of contract) so you must be on some good stuff to be able to dream up 13 for Petracca (in contract)

Not worthy of melts? Surely you've been around here long enough by now...
Overs slightly, Chesser pick was real worth and don't plan to melt about that.
If its taken this long for trade for T Young to happen I think there is more to play out on draft day.

Will Brodie for Pick 103.

Gee whiz. Trivia question areas.

Will probably have a bounceback in 2026 where he looks good, and people question why we didn't grab him.

Before he flames out in 2027 (like he has at Gold Coast and Freo) where his lack of defensive pressure and low game time get exposed again.
