Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

TDK was in our top 6.
Not in my estimation, just off the top of my head I'd have Cripps, Weitering, Hewett, Walsh, Charlie, Harry, Cerra ahead of him

Many at club see HOF as a potential key forward
Jack Nicholson Yes GIF

This time we aren't getting an A grader but also losing one :)
Charlie is an A grader in talent absolutely, but he has culture parasite written all over him.

The Sydneys/Geelongs of the world can handle him, but for us, a club trying to rebuild it's entire identity, an identity that's been plagued with mediocrity, Charlie for all of his talents is more harm than good, unfortunately.

If 11 is added to 10 for 2? F1 gets us Walker and Hayward & Florent make us better and I’m hoping they bring the standards and success attitude that was evident under Longmire at Swans

It’s more than just the deal. It’s the entire picture

I think moving on Curnow McGovern Elijah etc will bring a big change in standards
I'm hoping that maybe Newman, Hewett, Hayward and Florent (and any other swan that wants to come over) can encourage Longmire to come over to coach Carlton.

Disagree. I’m more a group person as opposed to individuals

My anger will club has been about culture. It’s poor

We were crap this year. IMO what we are doing makes us so much better next year. Adding this bodies and depth to Jagga Wilson Campos Motlop Cowan Carroll HOK HOF Moir Lord will have massive benefits next year and in the future

The standards will be so much better

We will be a lot better next year and I believe we will finally have genuine hope for future
I agree with this and to add in, bringing in 2x Sydney Swans players from the best culture (Bloods culture) in the comp will have a huge impact on our new young group we have. Both Haywood and Florent have been in the bloods culture for 10 years plus and know exactly what it takes to play at the pointy end year after year. Both will have impact on not only culture but leadership in a big way
Jagga Wilson Campos Motlop Cowan Carroll HOK HOF Moir Lord Cody Walker Dean Ison will be molded by these highly experienced players.
Ainsworth at 27 is another culture leadership builder.

On a final note we turn Sydney's 2025 1st and pick 19 into Humphrey Walter or another teams 'A' grader and we have nailed the Charlie trade big time

I disagree. This is a VFL level player and the Swans are trying to get out of their 4 year contract.

We should be steering clear.

I think they're only really shopping/pushing him because the opportunity exists to land Charlie. They need to squeeze a couple of players with value, all of those are contracted.

Hayward has read the tealeaves and was previously considering coming to us and so basically offered himself up for trade. He did it diplomatically - said nobody wants to be at a club they're not wanted and if the Swans didn't want him he'd be OK with going to Carlton. Pretty much put it on the club to commit one way or the other - if you don't want me to go, tell me I'm staying, but if you ask me about going then I'm taking that as you wanting me out, so you're gonna need to follow through.

They've delicately tried it with other players (Rowbottom) but been shut down, some others pre-empted it and made their stance known in advance (Papley).

Florent is a good one for them to really push. He's VIC born, has strong family reasons for being open to a move home, is AFL quality but plays a position they have quality options that have made him a bit redundant.

He makes us better, whether he plays or he's next cab off the rank rather than playing someone like Wilson for 10 touches and bugger all impact. In the short term. A balanced package for Curnow that bolsters us in the short term (Hayward and Florent) while also bolstering us for the long term (two first round draft picks) is a good strategy. We need a better spread of consistent contributors each week, but we also need to plan for the future. The rumoured deal achieves that.

Would I prefer Campbell or McInerney? Sure. But if they say no then they say no, we can't black bag them.

Need some KP players developing Soap. I see what you are saying but we need another KP forward at the very least.
I reckon we might look at some rookies for the KPP's this year. We've had some KPD's come through the rookie draft. We might look at some more next year in the ND when there is a wider selection available.

On the surface, you can be tricked into thinking this deal is getting close to okay, but it isn't. It's a dog shit deal for our only real game changer and either our best or second best player.

Florent is on a shit deal, which we will have to take, and Hayward is on big money too, so we don't even get salary cap relief in that regard.

Unless we have teed something up with those picks already, I'm hoping they say no to this deal.

By the end of all this, I reckon we’ll be a much better side in 2026.

Not bothered about losing De Koning. He plays when he feels like it, struggles against physical rucks, and only puts together a few strong games a year. $1.3 million was overs – St Kilda got fleeced. We dodged a bullet.

Silvagni showed glimpses down back, but he’s almost 27 with barely 100 games under his belt. Too injury-prone, too inconsistent. A five-year deal? Not for me. If his surname wasn’t Silvagni, he wouldn't be in the conversation.

Curnow’s elite but flawed - low defensive pressure, drifts in and out, and disappears in big moments. Needs everything kicked to him. Doesn’t gel with McKay.

The twin towers setup is outdated – the modern game’s about versatility. We have it now. Ainsworth and Hayward are massive upgrades on what we were running with up forward in 2025.

If Chesser stays fit, he takes Acres’ spot on the wing. Way quicker, and realistically, he can’t be a worse ball user than Blake.

No idea what to expect from Reidy, but he looks physically ready and should put pressure on Pittonet for that ruck spot.

Not sure what the plan is for Khamis, but he’s very solid depth to have.

Getting Walsh, Newman, Smith, Kemp, and Cottrell back and fully fit will make a big difference.

Anyone else we get out of Sydney is a bonus.

Plus, another full pre-season into the younger players.

One thing’s certain – our bottom five are going to be a lot better than they were in 2025.

And we'll be loaded with kids that have us competing well into the 2030's.

We have previously gone hard for A graders. Hasn’t worked

Yep. We need to build depth.

People need to realise what those picks and Hayward actually does for us.

Focus on the whole result of trade period.

Lose an unmotivated, entitled sook from the forward line.

Bring in two reliable forwards and it reshapes our whole forward line dynamic. Hayward is certainly one of those, Ainsworth being the other.

Florent off hb is better than Boyd, or a green Billy Wilson/Carroll/Charleston.

The pick 11 can be combined with 10 to improve our draft hand.

I think it'll end up being for 6 + 21 from Essendon in all likelihood. I'd rather be able to get Humphrey or if not possible, then try and get a F1 from North or Demons, but I doubt that happens either.

But with pick 6, we're looking at drafting Grjl, Robey, Lindsay...

21 + 22 means we can match a bid for Dean at pick 7 (after 10% discount) all likelihood though, he's going to be bid on at pick 14 from the Dogs.

The F1 helps us secure Walker.

It really does open up a lot of opportunities to improve our list by quite a bit going forward...
