Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

I'm sorry but haven't we heard this several times about recruits or departures? Yet nothing has really changed in 15 years.

Also, forgive me if I've missed it, but has it been said why exactly Charlie is hellbent on getting out of there? Is it simply that he and Voss don't get along (or whatever was reported)?

Not with Wright & Davies in charge and it has finally been identified as major issue

Reality is the Charlie deal will have mixed opinions on whether we got “enough” to justify it, but to me it sounds like the club is doing all it can to ensure adequate compensation.

You have 2 suitors; Geelong and Sydney. Geelongs deal was rightly knocked back and without much room to manoeuvre, we’re left with Sydney.

2 first round picks and 2 players straight into our 23 is a good (not elite, not terrible) result. Also puts us in a strong position for Walker.

We all saw how crap Charlie was this year and no doubt he would put in the exact same effort if he’s not traded. That’s not healthy for the club now or long term.

I’ve made my peace with the deal above.

I disagree. This is a VFL level player and the Swans are trying to get out of their 4 year contract.

We should be steering clear.

He's had a poor season... mostly due to not being on the same page as his new coach...

Doesn't make him a shit footballer.

Not saying he's a world beater, but he is a solid addition and given he's not even close to the focal point of the deal, I don't get what the problem is here?

What if Humphrey doesn't want Melbourne though.
Excuse Me What GIF

Can’t wait for the day to open bf and not see Charlie Curnow mentioned on the Carlton pages.

Bring on 2026

We have previously gone hard for A graders. Hasn’t worked

I look at it like this

Charlie crap has been bubbling along for 6 months or more
We are desperately trying to change culture

Our focus coming in was depth and a range of players. No need to go to draft with Jagga, Dean, Ison, Walker all coming in

If we walk away with Florent, Hayward, Pick 11 and F1 then that’s solid. Virtually secures Walker next year and we could easily trade up for a Top 4-5 pick. We now have solid mature depth to help our development and competition for spots

With much more SC room we have set ourselves up for next decade and got kids in before Tasmania stuff the draft

I am very happy if this is what happens
I'd like to see us throw Darcy Hogg a line as a mature aged rookie f/s. He looked great in the VFL this year and was a step above. I reckon he could make the step up in class to the AFL easily now he's matured a bit more. I'd be offering his little brother, Archer, Darcy's VFL slot.

Feeling pretty flat, cant see how this trade makes us better. I can see how it instantly makes Sydney better hence why they are jumping at the deal. The old adage of key position players being worth more than flankers or mids rings pretty loudly. We're trading away a very good key forward for a couple of flankers and some picks that help us get a mid. I hope Nick Austin has a plan up his sleby

eve to get us another key forward from somewhere. We have gone from having built a team around a good spine to seeing a large part of it leave in a short space of time. The replacements seem to be either draftee kids or undersized swingmen. When Harry has a spell on the sidelines we're going to be in trouble.

Harry will be double an triple teamed each game anyway so we have to find other means to kick goals.

Like Hayward a lot and I think he will offer our forward line a lot but it's a risk grabbing him without being able to do a medical since he's in Brazil on holiday.

Still holding out hope we can get McInerney in that trade package. Would really rejuvenate our wings with both him and Chesser.

Florent, if we want him should be a separate deal since he fell out of favour at the Swans and has 4 years to run on his contact at decent money. They want him off their books. Token pick.

Future 3rd for Buku is bang on fair. Dogs expecting more for a guy who is not in their best 22 and openly declaring they want to keep him for depth purposes.. madness. Wanting to get a pick upgrade on a first round pick for a guy not in the their best 22 is equally laughable. I can understand them trying but damn, sometimes sanity has to prevail. If it was a best 22 player you dig your heels in that's fine, but when it's for more opportunity in a different role (ala like Kennedy last year) you just get it done on the cheap.
