Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

I'm hoping that maybe Newman, Hewett, Hayward and Florent (and any other swan that wants to come over) can encourage Longmire to come over to coach Carlton.
Pass for me

I'm coming around to O'Keeffe taking on a key forward role. Has the athleticism, body work and the hands for it. Hope he sorts out his kicking and hamstrings.

I'm so glad we are finally tackling our forward deficiencies issue I've been going on about the last 3 seasons. Ainsworth is a great get for us and I am all onboard with Hayward.

Wright is going to be really good for us. All of a sudden these things I have been mentioning for years, lack of pace, lack of run, lack of genuine forwards, lack of pace in the middle. Finally seems to be a focus.

Recruiting players is not all about the recruiting team. A recruiting team without good direction goes into draft and trade period blind.

I've criticised Voss and the coaching team for not giving our recruiters more direction. For example lack of pace, lack of genuine forwards, lack of good kicks. The coach should be directing the recruiters so that we bring in players with these traits and I feel that the direction has been poor. All of a sudden it looks on the money.

We have taken a lot of players in the Voss era who we would not have even considered with our current direction. Wright and Davies are making an impression and their direction is giving me a lot of relief.

The rumours of who we have looked at and are trying to get all fits into this. Hayward and Ainsworth really excite me as they are genuine forwards, smaller forwards who crumb but also have a really strong marking game so when we are moving the ball forward they aren't sitting back waiting for the ball to go to the talls, they are making moves and giving us really strong options.

Rumours suggesting we have enquired about Humphrey, another genuine forward and a small forward with a strong overhead game. We are targeting the types we should have been for the last 3 or 4 years. Butters, the perfect target for us, a quick agile onballer to pair with Walsh. Carlton probably go into top 4 contention with a player like that if Walsh also stays fit.

Just on that, Walsh needs a partner like that, a quick dynamic mid equal to him. Stop saying Smith because that is some time away, same with Walker. Do this and Walsh doesn't get targeted as much, his body stays in better shape and his game becomes more damaging. More forward run from him. It also takes away a strategy teams use against us which is all about getting the ball out in space which is an easy kill for quicker opposition teams, Adelaide for example.

Curnow's trade can fix this team, I am sure of it, we just need to do this really well.

Looks like Andrew Mackie is going to be left sitting on KB’s old ‘box seat’ still waiting for Charlie to join his mate Mr Sniff down there lol

I hope there is something more substantial than Hayward plus 2 x R1 picks coming over, and I'm not talking Florent, else it will be a big letdown.

Realistically we are trading one player for TWO first round picks (one will help secure No1 Pick in Walker). We will add 2 x best 23 players from a successful club that are in their prime. The way they can help our youth grow is massive

Not to mention SC room for the future. This is as much about the future as the now

We are moving on a 29 year old that doesn't want to be here and tbh is a distraction.

Sometimes I think people's expectations is way too high. I think it's a good deal and for many reasons

Silvagni showed glimpses down back, but he’s almost 27 with barely 100 games under his belt. Too injury-prone, too inconsistent. A five-year deal? Not for me. If his surname wasn’t Silvagni, he wouldn't be in the conversation.

Take the name out of it and that's what we're looking at here. A bloke who tried hard but rarely impacted up forward, moved back and looked pretty handy. But with the added factor of this time round, the one we lost was also very very injury prone.

Jack will play some very good footy over the next few years. He'll also miss games. He'll also get towelled up and concede bags of goals from time to time.

I think anyone hoping for more than the two firsts, Hayward and Florent is going to be disappointed. Tea leaves screaming it’s that and they’re just waiting for Florent to agree.
I'm fine with Florent 'the player', it's the reported 4 years on good money that I'm not wild about.

How about we ask for Datolli in exchange?

You can put the house on it.
if we let curnow go and dont bring in a player that gets the playing group excited for the future the club is going to Have more problems then the supporters being upset
Our list has had a complex of leaving it to Cripps, Charlie, anyone else … for too way long.
Losing Charlie is going to be hard to swallow and will have a short term impact but long term it’s going to improve opportunities for players across the list.
