Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

I’m going to hold my breath on saying anything else, but if that’s the deal we get for Charlie and pick 10 and 11 are used to get up the draft order, Voss might as well hand in his resignation tomorrow. We can’t rely on the kids we bring in to do enough to help him keep his job next year, and a couple of role players even good ones like Hayward won’t be enough to mitigate our overall losses in 2026. Say what you will about their shortcomings but at his best Charlie is still a 60 goal forward, tdk was still miles better than pitto or reidy and jsos still came equal 9th in our b&f from 13 bloody games

Bit disappointed we didnt or havent had a ping at Ollie Henry in isolation. Right type of short term option.

Pity theyd ask for astraight swap with Charlie.
Also on Henry, funny that someone on the Cats board has him equivalent to Hayward. Convinced that their deal is almost as good as Swans.

Interesting day ahead.

If it was purely about individual talent then I would agree. Games not played that way

We are trading our best forward for a pick before the one we already have and a pick we have to give up (along with another 1st round pick) for one player.

So we are effectively trading Curnow and 2 x 1st rounders for Walker and pick 10 this year.

If anyone offered you that at the start of the year, when would you have stopped laughing?
So what are you saying - you think we shouldn’t give up 2 R1 picks for Cody Walker if we need them to match an early bid, seriously?

Like what we’ve done with the forward line - if we do add Hayward.

Feel we are still missing another pacey half back.

Ideally Wilson steps up but don’t see him picking up 15-20 touches a game yet and breaking lines.

If there’s something available in the draft before the Dean bid I hope we move up.
Florent??

I’m amazed by the level of optimism by so many in this forum. The reality is if we lose Charlie, we are one injury/health issue to Harry away from a bottom 4 finish.
Miles off the mark. This whole reset is to solve this very issue. The two key forwards or bust has been a failure. A fast unpredictable multi pronged avenue to goal is what we are trying to build. So far looking ok. We dont know the Curnow trade return yet so we are unable to pass judgement on any of it yet.

Reason Henry is not getting a game is because of attitude and work rate. Guy is all over the place and doesn't really give a f*ck. Think our Ollie and Lij to their and Jack and Ollie.

We clearly underperformed this year and by all accounts was compromised due to TDK playing well within himself due to FA and probably even charlie

something was off with the team and maybe these are the changes we needed. For whatever reason, the core has been together for awhile but under delivered. Arguably change was necessary

I was at the port game in Adelaide this year. We were woeful but one memory stood. After we finally scored our first goal deep In the second quarter- the whole team ran over to Lewis young to congratulate him. Like wtf- what the **** are you celebrating for the whole team to run over to one individual. One of the weirdest things I have seen at the footy.

To me, taht reflected something wrong with the Playing group and that change was required.

I don’t feel at all comfortable with Charlie going- would love him to stay. But I just can’t fathom how another year like this year with the same core group would bode well beyond 2026. Change was necessary.

I expect a better year next year not because of our overall talent- we will lose more than we have gained- but because of the talent we have retained coupled with a better attitude

Just so misguided and poor excuse for our issues.

Thanks for the response mate … i thought it was money but just wanted some clarification if anything else was at play
It could be something else as well... but, I suspect that his manager got in his ear about his earning potential when TDK's offer was made.

What pisses me off is that apparently Ed has the dirts with the club despite us keeping him on the list because Charlie wanted him at the club for one more year.

Agree, our transition game and ball movement has been one of the worst in the competition for a few years.

If the goal is to move away from a contested ball game style to a more dynamic ball movement then these trades may be the first steps in achieving this overdue change.

Don’t get me wrong, if we play finals next year I will gleefully eat my words, but ability does matter and compared to 2023-mid 2024 we have lost a lot of it, and vossy doesn’t have time for the kids to grow up and hope that they can replace it

I just can’t believe we’ve fallen so far in 15 months

I don’t care how much ability you have, if you aren’t driven to succeed and be part of a team and do what’s required you will never be part of a successful club.

The “ability” we had this year couldn’t even make finals

As for Voss he won’t be judged on wins alone

I want to see a number of our first and second year players take a step in the right direction.

I want to see our remaining veterans committed to the cause, pull their fingers out, and set a professional standard for the kids.

Basically, my personal evaluation will be based on commitment and growth. If we lose more than we win but we've accounted for ourselves and improved where it counts I'll consider it a tick and steps in the right direction.

If that happens and Voss is sacked he'll be unlucky. If we don't get that buy in then it's time to move on.

Anyone can beat anyone on any given day. North were 50 points up on Collingwood before they pulled their finger out (and the umps gabe them a huge advantage,) in that time. The season before last the Eagles beat the Dogs in Melbourne to kill their season, etc.

My point is this. If you don't have complete buy in whether it's for a game or a half even the worst teams can make you look silly.

We lost that buy in and it spreads discontent and others drop off. If Charlie shopped himself as early as May then it wasn't spur of the moment and it came before then. Then the news that he's looked elsewhere spreads among the team. Everyone knew TDK was off. The negativity of players like SOS. The knee injury to Newman. The visible decline of Sam Docherty. It all adds up. Elijah and Harry mental health issues, etc. It was one thing after another.

Our potential best is vastly superior to that. But the drop off is understandable given the combination of circumstances piling up. It's put us on a different timeline altogether now.

I just want to finish ahead of saints and Sydney.

Tbh if Sydney gets Charlie I want them to finish ahead of Geelong.

Yes, that probably means finishing above us too but it would be nice to see them get gifted a lesson in trading fairly and properly and not expecting the entire league to bow down to them
