Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

No, someone else said Charlie said something... that's why I used the word "apparently" ...

At least follow the trail of the topic properly before interjecting with false claims...

He declared himself fit for the ef... club still didn't play him to not risk his health...

You're whinging over one game where he no doubt would have had a say in playing as well... let's not pretend he didn't and absolve him of all wrongdoing here... maybe the club wanted to trust him because he said he's right... and that's why they didn't come ef... prove that wrong...

Dig up.
Oh there's a trail already. You've been shitting on his head for weeks, unable to accept the possibly that the club fudged up his recovery by playing him while injured. I frankly don't care what he said regarding the EF, the fact remains that he shouldn't have played vs Hawks and Brad Lloyd is an utter idiot for declaring him fit. Sure, it's one game... a game that ended his season and forced him to have ankle surgery. Why are you downplaying the significance of that?

Which is not a coincidence, because it's been a pattern with multiple players. And you are ignoring this because you have some kind of irrational hate against Charlie.

If you trip over yourself and fall, you will injure yourself. If I push you hard enough to put you off-balance, you will fall and injure yourself. It's not any different as far as your body is concerned. I clearly used an example of a push where it's just enough to make you off-balance... I am not talking about someone throwing you down stairs with the might of Hulk.

You're missing the whole point around how the knee injury occurred... again, it was from his quad muscle contracting...

What do you think happens to someone's knee when they impact hardwood, steel or concrete?

That's not what happened... at least read up on it. His knee didn't slam into the tiled steps...

Did not even mention the word once.

You don't need to mention the word... your whole argument is against the notion that he's unprofessional... therefore you think he's a professional. Either way, you have zero evidence to back your claim that it was just pure accident just like I do to say he clowned around or was drunk.

So again, you believe what you want, I'll believe what I want...

If he stinks it up, I will happily criticise him.

Doubt it... you'll blame the club for mismanaging him, or latch onto some other excuse...

What I won't do, is make up stuff about him personally and use it as a vehicle to insult him.

Damaging his knee on stairs isn't made up. Having already reinjured it playing basketball, you'd think he'd be careful walking up some stairs...

Don't worry, I'm sure the club were not as gullible as some to believe it was just some freak accident...

I already gave you an example of mismanagement, if you want to ignore that, then that's on you. I don't need evidence when I claim you can injure your knee falling down the stairs, but when I start telling people that player X did Y because they were drunk, that's far more substantial than arguing about basic physics.

I didn't ignore it, I pointed out that he is as much to blame as the club...

I never said it was impossible to injure your knee falling down stairs...

but that's not even what happened... maybe research it.

I wonder if anyone would do us a favour(maybe bombers as they may have the same issue in 27)? Trade out 10 then trade it back in once a bid for dean comes. This may make the AFL crack the shits.

I like that tbh.

Match Dean at 10. Dovaston at 17. Match Ison later. Job done.
That would be a terrible outcome and amateur hour by the LM team if they let Charlie go and then do that. You match the Dean & Ison bids without giving up an A grader. People have trade/draft fever!

And why did Brad declare him fit? You honestly think Charlie didn't tell him he's right to play? Hahaha come on...

Brad's an idiot, but let's not pretend he overruled medical staff and Charlie himself here... pure nonsense.

It's not irrational hate... I don't even hate him lol...

What I am, is extremely frustrated with how he has conducted himself over the years then has the cheek to complain about the club despite the club backing and supporting him all the way...

So yeah, I'd like to see a player like that out the door. He doesn't want to be here, I've already listed all the reasons that have lead me to feel that way about him, so disagree all you want, I'm not changing my view, just because it annoys you. Maybe just put me on ignore if it bothers you so much?

Yeah, it does kind of even it up a little.

Reckon if Geelong found a player around the Hayward level to throw in with their three 1st rounders, it may get us a little aroused. Not a woody, but maybe half a chub.

Problem for either club is that if any player of any note know that Charlie's arriving, they won't want to leave.

Geelong have told CC they are officially out.

They couldn't come up with 1 player out of the 44 on their list who they could possibly trade yet went after Charlie AND Marshall... with the same rubbish pick.

Amazing club to trade with.

Gettable well worth a listen today. Quite a bit on the proposed Charlie deal (they agree with most of us, no way can 22 be involved), but also a few tidbits about the draft, including
  • Dean definitely gets bid on before 10
  • there’s no market for trading 26 1sts into this year
  • Also unlikely that anyone trades out of the top 10 this year, aside from Suns for Petracca
  • they seemed to think we would just hold 10+11 and match the Dean bid, and 11 would just slide back to 17 odd
If we did that anyone of us could be a list manager

We need to get working on those picks 10,11 and 22

You’re ignoring that in that scenario we would be getting an extra 1st round pick in.

It might not be ideal, but we’re also getting bent over with the shit sandwich combination of:
-a change of the DVI this year
-it being a weak and compromised draft
-the proposed changes making it even harder for us next year
-next year being a strong draft
-the assumption of Tassie entering the 2027 draft
-us trading in 6 players so being tight for list spots

I don’t think it’s that bad

You're missing the whole point around how the knee injury occurred... again, it was from his quad muscle contracting...
I'm not missing any point here.

You were the one who said this was caused by him being drunk. I say provide proof, or shut up.
You don't need to mention the word... your whole argument is against the notion that he's unprofessional... therefore you think he's a professional. Either way, you have zero evidence to back your claim that it was just pure accident just like I do to say he clowned around or was drunk.

I never said he never acted unprofessionally during his career.

I said that falling on stairs is not an unprofessional act and could happen to anyone. That's my argument here.
Doubt it... you'll blame the club for mismanaging him, or latch onto some other excuse...
I bombard people who want to tank games for draft picks, you think players who don't want to put in are above reproach from me?

The thing is, that unlike you, I don't make things up about players to make trash-talking them more legitimate.
Damaging his knee on stairs isn't made up. Having already reinjured it playing basketball, you'd think he'd be careful walking up some stairs...
You can be the most careful person in the world, making all the precautions necessary. Accidents happen. Something you are omitting.
Don't worry, I'm sure the club were not as gullible as some to believe it was just some freak accident...
You're sure yet you don't know the opinion of the medical staff, coaching staff and such? Okay then.
I didn't ignore it, I pointed out that he is as much to blame as the club...
Sounds like you're trying to absolve the club's responsibility in this to me, referring to the EF call more than once, and not taking into account the fact that the club had a habit of rushing recovering/injured players back. The Hawks game was one example, but it was the strongest one.

If thats our best plan for the Swans pick 11 I'd rather just keep Charlie. That pick needs to be traded up or out (for a 1st next year).

Using 10 to match Dean, and letting 11 slide back, would be an absolute joke.

At least if we trade Charlie next year we'll know exactly what we need for Walker.

Today’s highlight definitely the Dean Polo-like thread debut of “nurry bag”
