I was thinking more Ron Burgandy myself.

To me there is something very gross about a player's manager openly agitating to leave the club that he voluntarily signed a long-term contract with, let alone talking to the media and bagging out that player's current club for not accepting a trade offer.

The player agent is a grubby looking dude lol

This year's Hawks death ride was hugely unsatisfying. Sam Mitchell acted like a flog with Oscar. Add to that the fact that Merritt not only signed a huge contact, but then recently renegotiated for even more money after saying he thinks his teammates should get less. It's a line in the sand moment for the power balance between clubs and players/player agents.

Given these things, I would much rather see the Merritt deal fall through rather than facilitating it, unless we got an unbelievably ridiculous offer. We don't have many list spots, and are taking the top two players in the draft, plus an additional first rounder, plus Banfield who I feel will be the bargain of the draft, and Evans who could be amazing if he stays injury free.

Hearing Essendon are about to offer pick 5,9,22 for pick 1, which them accepting Merrett offer is conditional on.

I’d counter with 5,6,F1 for 1,13. See how much they want Duursma.
Wonderful news. The last thing we want is Harley surrounding by people who made him fat last off season.

The only people Harley should be housing with is elite athletes

I notice Essendon haven't said "No, we are not trading Merrett, there will be no more negotiations". I still think a deal gets done.

I really want Essendon to stand their ground but at some point they probably need to swallow their pride and do what’s best for the club’s future - picks 10,22 and a F1 (which will be a late F1 admittedly) is a pretty good return for a 30 year old

Squeeze Hawthorn for more but that’s getting pretty close to a decent return

They need a decent player back. They're not that desperate for picks currently due to their list space.

Two goals were from the goal square but he did have a solid outing. Remember he's a 17 year old kid playing against men.
Ita good he got out there and competed, thats just about all.

And that goes for every player- it means nothing in the long run.
Daniel Wells came 2nd in the Sandover at age 17 which according to some meant he was destined for GOAT status.

Doubly so in the Sanfl it happens consistently because their u18s is trash.

I do hope that other clubs start buzzing around Hawthorn's contracted players and just start offering them big pay rises on long-term deals. If they want to play this game then let them spend all year denying rumours and media reports about their good players moving on to other clubs.
Will Day is the one. Agitate him out then see him not miss a game for the next 5 years, after being unable to get on the park regularly for them, would be fun.

Initial report on Hawks/Blues trade looks way off.

Blues adding heap of points. Hawks moving later picks to move up to 22 to try sweeten the Merret deal.

That makes more sense. Carlton positioning for points for Dean this year. They likely plan to trade out their pick 9 an F1 to match for Walker next year.

Now that makes more sense
