Setterfield elite for tackles last three years and elite for pressure acts this season. 27yo. 192cm.

Surely can play the defensive mid role.
cheap free pickup, give 1 year to prove himself

hope we are one of the clubs interested in setters

I'd give Brad a fair amount of the credit for this. Wasn't their a draft, maybe 12 years ago, when most of our recruits were from Queensland - some of us joked that must be where our single recruiter was based. Certainly, after Brad left, there weren't many capable senior players left to mentor the young team.
Odly enough i still think wagner is playing. 3rd club though

Wagner had it with us - thought he was worth persisting, had a very untimely injury I believe in his last game as it were - not WW type of injury, which was also a massive factor in his career but enough for us to cut Wagner at the time. It’s actually a credit to Wagner to show as much fight and determination as he has to essentially make a career out of AFL - maybe that was the type of personality we needed more on our list.

I see young Welsh has been delisted to be re-rookied by the Crows.

Keen draft watchers might be able to add more detail but I seem to remember he was projected to go very early in the draft when he was 16/17 but slipped in his draft year.

I loved his old man as a player, wonder if he is worth a punt with our final pick?

Undersized key forward Crows are happy to risk. Pass.

Is that so..Would be interesting to know how many posters have the same view as your and don't give a crap about the AFLW.
If you cancelled AFLM, you'd be lucky to maintain 85% of the membership.
7500 members would probably make us a Top 20 sports club in W town.

I think the real question is who actually gives a ****... I watch but I don't actually care if we win, probably why we're good.

They didn’t “dump an 18 team comp” it started as an 8 team competition. You’ve changed the story to suit your narrative.
How many teams are there now? 18? So they have dumped an 18 team league on society, haven't they? 8 teams were implemented and now 10 more in no time, looks like a dump to me.

I'd imagine there's thousands like me, who watch because it's Norf, want them to win and be successful (obviously), but if they lose it's "oh ****", rather than spending ones time amongst like-minded folk and dealing with abjectness together (like we do ordinarily).

I watch Women's Golf because inside 80m, they're just as good maybe better. Unfortunately, women's footy is terrible, that we're the best doesn't take away from the fact (apart from us), teams are really crap.

I don’t think we have a spot for a dfa pick up sure we might pick up only two in the draft which would give a spot but you would think we’d use three

Move river Stevens to rookie list

Or just use our first rookie pick to get one of these guys before the other clubs rerookie

Rewording it to say when the big clubs make up the top four. Anyone north of 75,000 members is a big club.

WC - huge club with over 100,000 members
WCE
Collingwood
Richmond
Carltons
Essington
Crow
...
Geelong
Hawthorn
...
Sydneys
Brisbane
Powers
...
Dee
Doggies
Saint
Freo
...
NMFC*
Suns
Giant

*Reckon we'll be close to hitting 80,000 members (33,069 average Melb home crowd), if we're ever good.

There are 10 clubs that fit your criteria.

They make up 2 of the top 4.

5 of the top 8.

or are you saying that AFLW will only have made it when the top four only consists of clubs in this list?

One of the best things about the AFLW is that it doesn't currently hold to the established order within the AFL. There isn't the clear two tiered system of haves and have nots. It is a system of do it better and rise.

If the AFL pursue the ideal of having big clubs as the top clubs then AFLW will have lost an element that keeps it more sport than sports entertainment.

People express on here about how it is a novelty, etc. IMHO it is a more pure version of the game because it is not fully formed into an expected format. If/Once that happens we will be pushed into irrelevancy in a simliar way that we have in the mens.

probably not quite as disconnected as EH but if i never watched another game of womens footy again i wouldnt lose a minute of sleep.

like the big M little league, i would pay a cursory glance between going for a piss and getting another beer or hot chips at half time but generally left the stadium not knowing if the kids won or lost.

If there is nothing else on tv this time of year I might switch over to sport and if there is an AFLW game on I’ll watch it for a while. I’ve never made it through a full game. Previous years that’s because of the terrible skill level. This year and each year it’s improving. But I’m still at the point where I’ll watch an entire match of AFL even if North are playing rubbish. But I have better things to do than watch a full game of AFLW even with North winning and playing brilliantly.

I think AFLW will be like Netball. Big for females as a sport at local clubs. Big following among young women, girls, kids, demographic with time to devote to playing and watching a sport they’re passionate about. But harder to reach a regular huge paying audience who would be happy to scrap an afternoon, weekend or weekday evening to watch their team or even two rival teams competing.
