SNFL Div 4 2026

Word on the street is a 9 team, top 5 D4 comp next year.

1. Not sure the point with the lack of depth.

2. How the SFNL doesn’t have a backbone and make Clyde enter divisional football is a farce. Even if they do have the one Senior side like Cerberus to start…

Clyde aren't ready

From the sounds of it moorabin could be the big slider down near bottom.

on socials seen at least 7 or 8 ones players gone various clubs , oakleigh district 3, clayton apparently has a few and spending more on moorabin players is the rumour.
think lyndale got 1 or 2 they said aswell

From memory they were a very older side cant be good if losing players with not much youth coming through the doors
i don't know who else they have that would be leaving apart from the ones already announced elsewhere.

wonder if new moorabbin coach will get any out of Clayton considering he coached there

It would say a lot about the standard of Div 4 if players from Chadstone start to dominate. Certainly got a back bone and a big heart though having to front up for Chaddy the last few seasons.
absolutely, full respect to those fellas. Same as the blokes down at Eley Park, wouldn’t be surprised if both clubs fold pre-2026.

Heatherhill have been in the competition longer. Why don’t they put them in first. Clyde will enter in due course and eventually grow to be a successful club.

Why do Heatherhill or Clyde have to play divisional footy? Their players and club current set ups are clearly not going to be sustainable in divisional footy. Both even played Friday Nights last season.
They don’t have to. Heatherhill probably never will. Clyde FC will only continue to grow and they will outgrow Thirds football in the next season or 2, as they will have enough numbers for Reserves and even u19s. Think currently they go up to u15s and have a mountain of junior teams already even in their short existence.

At present, Clyde do not possess the depth and talent required to compete at a divisional football level.

Heatherhill, on the other hand, may consider transitioning to the MPFNL Thirds competition. It has been reported that several MPFNL clubs have already submitted expressions of interest to participate in a potential Thirds competition.

From a geographical standpoint, Heatherhill would ideally prefer to align with and compete within the MPFNL structure.

They already have Edi Asp and Pearcedale (both played Southern) and I heard Langy, Somerville and Rosebud are all big chances to get Thirds up and running. I’m sure there will be others into the MPNFL Thirds grade too!

Turning back to the Southern league, Clyde still appear a couple of seasons away from being ready for divisional football. While there are promising signs of progress, the club currently lacks the overall depth and consistency required to compete at that level. Remaining in the Thirds for at least another two seasons would give Clyde valuable time to build experience, strengthen its list, and develop the talent needed for sustainable success.

certainly a good area for junior numbers

Josh Phillips lol. More clubs than hot dinners! Piling up the home & away shorts for every club.

2021 - Dandenong
2022 - Narre Sth
2023 - Narre Sth
2024 - Narre Sth & Frankston Bombers
2025 - Lyndale
2026 - Moorabbin
————————————
2027 - Sth Yarra?
2028 - Ashwood?
2029 - St John’s?

That’s a lot of annual past players days.
If this is a big recruit for the Kangas they are in some serious strife as a footy club. Horrific footballer.. 3rds standard.

All of those clubs have advertised for 3rds players, as have Pines and YCW.

it'll be interesting to see if SFNL take them into a bigger 3rds comp, or MPFNL go it alone.

Nah, the MPFNL is definitely a stronger competition than the SFNL.

Realistically, the only SFNL teams that could compete in the MPFNL are Dingley, Heatherhill, and Frankston. The others — Hallam, Clyde, and Lyndale — would be better off sticking with the Southern competition for now.

Possible Thirds Competition (if the above three don’t move):

  • Frankston
  • Heatherhill
  • Dingley
  • Narre South (likely to have Thirds)
  • Clyde
  • Hallam
  • Lyndale

MPNFL is staunchly anti-thirds/clubbies and the ability to have a Friday night third helps out a lot of the clubs in case there are needs for double ups, and some people want to play as many games as possible (played with someone who did thirds Ressie than supers on a Sunday) Clayton are also looking at putting in a thirds meaning 4 teams in div 4 could be fielding thirds sides

This is the Friday night section. Remember SFNL also runs a Thirds / Clubbies competition on the Saturday as well

Would say the top 4 will be
Dandy
Clayton
St johns
Narre South
don't think anyone will be as dominate next year as the previous few years but could be surprised
