Things that please me - Part 6

Cleaning out my house has made me realise how much stuff we have that we don't need. And I've always considered myself a bit of a minimalist. But I still have so much junk that's not necessary.

Looking forward to living in a caravan with just the bare essentials for the next year.

I'd hope around 4-5k. Sadly most of these ones are just driven into the ground by amazon couriers.

I would love to keep it but I can't have two cars hah

My parents have 5 between them (dad 3, mum 2)

I have 0 - public transport for the win!

Is this still available?

We have a double garage, and park both cars in there, but everyone around has 4 or 5 and they park 1 inside and 4 out on the street, usually in front of my place.

Bit annoying

Hate neighbours like that who use your "space" when they should only using their own.

At my place, neighbours use 2 car lengths of my front nature strip area (don't really have a leg to stand on, I just think it's common courtesy to use your own space before encroaching others) but they leave most of theirs bare ? They could fit their cars on their area quite easily.

I've already asked him if he would accept $2,500 as I am struggling financially.

I've got a 1999 Ford Festiva sitting in my shed. Grandma's car (RIP). 59,000 km tootling to and from the shops. I put a new battery in it, changed the oil and coolant. Runs like a dream. Manual gearbox so needs to go to a car enthusiast. Eligible for club plates and cheapo rego. Might accept $3,000 from someone struggling financially.

Thread is turning into car mart.

old lady had a 98 one. Such a good car. Drove it to SA one year and it went kaput in Colac. Fun times

We accumulate too much stuff then get stuck in a loop of not getting rid of things we don't need because we want to declutter but also don't want to needlessly throw things away because it's wasteful. It's a bit like ending up with a plate of dinner that is too big then eating it all ("because there's people starving in Africa!") and not feeling good.

I'm happy to own things I don't use often like small appliances or winter sports stuff etc. but clutter shits me. Would much rather just have a toaster and kettle in a small kitchen (or a van) than have 17 small appliances and zero bench space.

That's what I love about Toyota cars, they simply do not die. Cheap as chips to maintain and so damn reliable.

Mrs Post's Commodore died three years ago and she desperately needed another car for work. She couldn't use mine as it was too small (transporting NDIS clients etc). This was at the height of covid second hand car madness, we wound up paying $10k for a 2006 Camry that needed another $2500 work. Totally ripped off. Neither of us like it.

When we were in NZ earlier this year we eventually bought a 2004 Toyota Wish - it's got bad sun rash on the clearcoat, dings from its previous owner, and a satnav that is convinced we are circling the Toyota factory in Japan - but its so good we kept onto it, we're going on a road trip maybe March, and are looking at bringing it back to Aus when we're done. Paying $3500 to bring a $5000 car to Australia might be madness, but it suits us down to the ground and its a damn good car and we've already spent whatever we needed to.

Moving out of my house this weekend. Living in the local caravan park until the end of the school year then it's on my way.
If you head to my town I’m happy for you to stay on my property, free power and water and 28 acres of serenity.

Saw an Eagle pulling apart a carcass on the road a few weeks ago. Beautiful birds
The wedge tails are huge when you get up close. Where I live we have a lot of black kites and whistling kites they don’t look that big in the sky but again up close they have a bit of size to them.

I like the comparison meme that calls an American bald eagle a "glorified seagull" compared to a wedgetail.
