Looks like he will be left waiting unless another club picks him up. I like him and would love us to find a spot for the young man, but the signing of Reidy and a shortage of spots probably leaves him in limbo.
Hopefully stays with our VFL program and continues to develop, hopefully getting more sessions with the AFL boys. Mid season draft could become an option if a spot opens up, but one would think we need KPD coverage with HOF down for most of the year.
OāKeeffe came back huge after last off season, but was lighter in our first training footage. Clearly we have decided he is forward first. With his history of soft tissue injuries, it would seem we have decided to slow or limit him bulking up.
We have a season to assess the pecking order with Pitto and Reidy, then future list requirements can be identified, along with the development of Flynn Riley. While not an athletic jumping ruckman, the extra couple of centimetres Riley has, may be a positive with the revised rule interpretation.
Edit: Zac Harding may be in a similar boat. Not sure if he stays with us if he does not get drafted. Under sized for a ruck, but has decent forward craft, and we are likely to need some tall forwards in the twos.
Gonna be a lot of fence sitters until the 2026 season starts and we can see how we're travelling then. If we jump out of the gates and thrash the Swans and the Tuggers, we might see a massive jump in numbers.Looks like 6k down at the same time last year.
Not necessarily. If Lij does have a spot with his name on it (subject to conditions), and we are still seeking to add Phillips (which I personally would), then it suggests that HOF goes on the LTI.
But itās firming up that we want to take 3 at the ND.
Thats a good thing. Hope there are more than anticipated.Gonna be a lot of fence sitters until the 2026 season starts and we can see how we're travelling then. If we jump out of the gates and thrash the Swans and the Tuggers, we might see a massive jump in numbers.
If the club is doing well next season, after the loss of TDK, Curnow, and that Jack guy, the fence sitters will be off the fence quickly.
This business of potentially re-rookying Elijah is doing my head in. I can only presume that, as a contracted player, we have had to pay out his contract to de-list him and if we now rookie him we will have to pay whatever the minimum rookie payment is. This would seem to actually be a reward for whatever behaviour forced us to de-list him in the first place.
Why wouldn't it be better for him to be retained and if he doesn't meet the required standards take the action then?
Not sure I'd want these guys handling my business.
edit: Oops think this is in the wrong thread and I don't know how to change it and don't wish to re-write so I'm gonna let it run.
Yeah, fair enough.Not necessarily.
We may take just the two picks, trade anything else of value for a future pick. Then upgrade another player (Lord) to fill out the senior list, and leave two rookie spots (for either rookie draft or SSP). Those two spots could still go the way of Lij & Phillips without needing to put HOF on the Inactive List.
I think 3 at the draft is still more likely, but call it a 60/40 thing rather than 90/10.

Nick Austin has run the list management team at Princes Park since taking over from Stephen Silvagni as list manager in 2020. Carlton poached him from the Western Bulldogs, where he was a highly rated recruiting manager under Sam Power, following six years in the recruiting team at Richmond and three years as opposition analyst at Port Adelaide, after initially starting at the Whitten Oval. Austin is the son of Carlton great and former Fitzroy coach Rod, who worked for the AFL for more than 20 years as football administration manager. National recruiting manager Michael Agresta has been at the Blues since 2018, following a seven-year stint in the same role at Sydney. Former North Melbourne list manager and long-time Champion Data analyst Glenn Luff returned to recruiting last year as a part-timer with Carlton before being added full-time in 2025 as recruiting operations coordinator. Brent Manson is list strategy manager at Carlton after more than a decade in performance and analytics roles. Jake Fuller is the south-west recruiting coordinator for the Blues.PLAYERCARDSTARTSam Power

God I want Moir to step up another level next year. He could really bring another level of polish to our F50 entries.Totally
Spot onI agree, he has a lot of flair and you could see his hard work beginning to show.
Really glad both Hayward and Ainsworth have arrived to mentor him and Jesse.
Agree Phillips is Lewis Young Level or below...I see no benefitI think Phillips is a very long shot to be added as I'm pretty sure he's just not AFL standard. My guess is we start with Weit and Dean and backup from Young and Gov - and Kemp if we get desperate.
I'm not sure if he's up to it but I really do want him to be the next premiership coach. If Voss can figure something out he will survive
You and me both. If we can get him on the list, he's the reason why I'm not at all worried about losing TDK. Riley and Skull will be a great ruck combo for us going forward I reckon... if we can get him.Oh how I want Riley on our list⦠proper ruck and a decent kick
Clearly they thought he wasnāt up to it for now and recruited Reidy. Riley had a couple of poor games at the end of the seasonYou and me both. Yeah Riley only a couple of months older than Skull, a baby in ruck terms. Did a great job as no. 1 in the Ressies for much of the season, but still needed a chop out, and definitely tired under the load. Skull/HOK missed a bit of footy and then was repurposed as a forward first. Still think he has plenty to offer long term, but few rucks are drafted before maturity these days.Clearly they thought he wasnāt up to it for now and recruited Reidy. Goal a game for Ivanhoe in VAFA Premier B, they went top of the table on percentage and then out of the finals in straight sets. He was in the best most weeks it seems, but in a pretty cruisy competition, with Cuningham and the Naish boys in his midfield.Interesting sidelight is a bit of chatter around Alex Mirkov being looked at by other clubs following the rule adjustments. Nit sure how his form has been since leaving us.

As much as I like Alex Mirkov, I think Flyn Riley offers more if we were to rookie list another project ruckman. I saw the finals he played and whilst he was good just think he doesnāt have enough āshit in him-and aggressionā for AFL.![]()
