With his comments on dislike of the Crows I really hope we don’t pick him.
I know it’s in vogue to talk yourself up Jevan but this is in another category of knob factor.

Eh, I don't mind this. As long as he's not a tosser with others and is just confident in his own game.

A bit of FIGJAM does help with being a great in this game.

Certainly gone much further than brother Mattaes with his comments, and really Mattaes was far better credentialed than Jevan when it comes to personal football achievements leading into the draft.

Lol what a silly thing to say.

Brisbane had 2 tall forwards and 2 ruckman, last year was 3 tall (191+).

These are both on in line with most other premiership teams, and distinctively different Richmond 2017, who went got another key forward as soon as they could.

Brisbane playing a couple of mediocre talls proves my point , not yours. They value their structural importance over their talent.

Only someone with an obsession with ignoring empirical data would believe the opposite.

Note the forward structure they favour is 2 talls, not 3. 2 genuine ruckmen is separate to the forward structure. We played a substandard player to maintain a 3 tall forward structure against Eagles. Brisbane play 2.

Sorry, I meant that with Thredgold and others there, is he really the right pick for us
We'll have to see who is still on the board at our pick because there will most likely be a couple of players that slide down and become available to us.

Barker would be my hope of the SA lads at that point dependent on his medical re the ACL.

Mark McGowan on the money, very hard draft to get a read on and JMO but a draft in which later picked draftees have as much chance of being decent AFL players as a lot selected well before them late in the 1st round/2nd round.

Why this year’s compromised AFL draft is so difficult to predict.

Expect things to get wild on Wednesday night. That is the safest assumption for one of the most unpredictable AFL drafts in years.

Others have predicted what might happen in each year’s draft for longer than me, but I have done it for long enough to appreciate the 2025 edition is a doozy. Recruiters have been at pains to try to change the narrative from it being an underwhelming draft crop to an even one.

What that means is some players will be far higher on certain clubs’ draft boards than others, which is always the case but more common, and with greater variance, this time. Then throw in a group of polarising prospects, such as Aidan Schubert, Oliver Greeves, Jevan Phillipou and Riley Onley, and a highly rated winger recovering from an ACL rupture (Harley Barker), and you are getting the picture.

Wish me luck, even if I have none of the responsibility or pressure that actual recruiters have.

I wonder what type of players we would be looking at for our 2nd pick if it's needs based.

Ruck
Small forward
Outside speed
?

My guess would be a 185cm+ midfielder with decent wheels and an inside/outside capability.

Personally I'd be taking a small pressure forward . Taylor Byrne if he's still on the board.

Fox (Waterworth) has us taking Marsh

Barker, Thredgold, NHH, Taylor, Greeves going afterwards
Great result if we get Marsh , we aren’t as solid for future tall forwards as people make out and he’s a real modern day roamer with a booming accurate kick 60m +

Can see Ogilvie bidding on a GC academy midfielder first ( going on previous history )

likely Jai Murray over Addinsall but either is possible . Bit of possibility they don’t get matched too

Dovastan is the other one we are interested in with our first pick , if he and Marsh are there it will be tight

Can’t see us taking Mitch Stevens , don’t think he’s good enough and we will learn from the welsh experience

If we take Marsh, are we missing a beat?

Hard to say. The draft looks like its pretty weak at this point, and at least Marsh has a pretty solid pathway into regular game time in his second year; providing we're willing to ruck Thilthorpe or willing to go to a four tall set up.

Not my first choice, but seems a very straight bat selection should it happen.

I really hope Dovastan falls to us. Can’t see it happening now. He’s been invited to the draft event.

If we take Marsh at 16, does anyone think that would then impact us taking Curtin in the 40s?

Sane type of player I believe

I'd easily take Marsh over Thredgold, plus six kpds on a list is far too many even if Butts were to leave next year.
Who are the 6?
Murray, Keane and Butts are the only ones that legitimate AFL level KPD's.

Borlase is very average depth and Worrell is a 3rd tall intercepting defender.

At no other club would Borlase ever be a starting AFL KPD unless they were hit with significant injuries.

A developing KPD like Thredgold with his athleticism, speed and ability to both attack and lockdown would be a better fit than Borlase especially if Butts leaves next year which would seem to be a very real chance.
