Love it. Classic Wallsy left field pick.

Looks to be much more the small forward prototype opposed to Sweid who’s more of your high half forward with midfield capabilities. Murray has good burst speed, crumbing ability and goal sense. Mature ager who looks readymade for an early debut.

Like that we identified a need for forward half talent this off-season, just need Whan to slide through to cat B and it’s a pretty decent draft haul.
Looks poles apart from Delean

Jesus Fcukin' WEPT... this guy is quick!!

I had to go back and watch this particular highlight in slow motion a few times, so I could figure out how the hell he did it.

The ball's just been thrown in. Tobyn (circled) is fending off his man, distance between them is effectively zero. Note the video timecode in the bottom right corner is 23 seconds.

2:

Tobyn pushes off his man and starts moving downfield. The ball is still nowhere to be seen. Less than one second has passed.

3:

A half second or so later, Tobyn is already a meter in front of his man and accelerating hard. Note Tobyn also cannot currently see the ball (circled) but is instead watching the ruck battle.

4:

The opposing ruckman won the tap, sending it down field towards his offensive-side teammate. Tobyn however is moving at speed to intercept and already has a 1.5 meter lead on his opponent (circled in red). Elapsed game time is approximately JUST under about two seconds.

5:

At about 2.5 seconds in, Tobyn intercepts the forward knock, at speed, before it can reach its intended target. Note that NOBODY on field was screening for Tobyn prior to the throw-in. Also note the distance between him and his two closest opposing midfielders, both of whom were moving towards the ball prior to the intercept.

Nb: in case you've lost track of Tobyn's direct opponent by this point (because I certainly had!), that's him there, circled in red above.... THREE METERS behind his man, and only just starting to pick up speed.

6.

Tobyn has taken possession, and switched possession of the ball from his right side to his left, protecting it from his nearest opponent. He is already reeling around towards goal, and has already put two opposing players between him, and his direct opponent.

7.
Screenshot_20251120-194845~4.jpg
Tobyn has fully reversed direction towards the attacking goal square, and is looking for options down field. His man has already stopped chasing him to save energy. Elapsed game time is a smidge under four seconds.

8. Screenshot_20251120-194915~3.jpg
Tobyn kicks the ball into attack at roughly the four second mark. It sails through for a goal. His direct opponent meanwhile is currently off-screen, in a different postcode entirely. Without wishing to sound mean, if his opponent were any further behind the play at this point, he would be standing in a different UTS timezone, and would need to change the time on his watch, to make it to the game on time.

So yeah... Tobyn is pretty quick around clearances: Quick to read the play, quick to move to advantage, quick to take possession and quick to dispose to advantage...

...but that's not the point I'm trying to make here.

What's staggering, is the field position Tobyn had JUST BEFORE he started to move, and the field position he had when he kicked the goal.

Have a really good look at how much ground he covered, and how many opponents he passed, in just four seconds. And that's not straight line speed either -- the guy is running in a l down field/up field arc, starting near the boundary line, and ending inside the F50

That is some serious speed... Not just in terms of movement, but also in terms of reading the play.

Somebody at Freo please give the drafting team an extra Christmas bonus. They've bloody done it again. 😎😎🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤

Old people joke mate
They won’t get it
Eh, probably not.

But oh Lordy lordy... - the Womble's original 1970's opening credits...

What a perfect bloody theme song for our entire bloody draft team right now (not to mention this year's entire draft haul in general):

"...making good use,
of the things that we find,
Things that those everyday
folks left behind..."

(Dum de dum de dum,
dum de dah
de dum
de dum
de dum de...)

Freo have done bloody brilliantly and made out like bandits this year, grabbing players others teams were either too dense to go chasing, or else were simply overlooked and/or discarded (in one sense or another.)

How 'dum' can you get? 🤣🤣

What a very Womble-like approach to solving a problem.

Tomsk would definitely approve.

Nft Who Is That GIF by Rug Radio

He looks like a decent prospect. Cats know how to develop them down there so he'll come ready made.

Wallsy you've done it again.
I agree, he could come straight in if, (touch wood) for instance Switta had an injury.
