I noticed that big lump that Twomey thought we'd draft with our second rounder went undrafted.

He's undone a decade worth of work with this draft. Complete balls up.

The fact that all the kids we drafted have top notch running capacity is very telling especially with the new rule changes which once again will speed the game up. Sam and the recruiting team I feel were playing 4D chess and have done very well in an over compromised draft.

feels like clubs outside scum have fed him lots of consistent porky pies this year.. so consistent that he hasn't been able to figure out he was being schooled.

Maybe trust in him has gone now and they feel like he is an extension of scumland now. Having said that he did manage to play some small role in getting Sharp to his team as Davo predicted.

Is 5mins of top notch running enough?

Sooo... what next? I think this is correct (happy to be corrected)

A total of up to 44 players are allocated across three categories: Primary list (36-38), Category A Rookie (no more than 6) and Category B Rookie (no more than 2).

The Hawks now have:
  • 38 on the Primary List: full.
  • 1 Category A rookie: Ramsden
  • 2 Category B rookies: JUH and Hill

Meaning we have 3 Category A rookie list spots left for any of:
  • the rookie draft: 3pm Friday and take about 10 minutes
  • Pre-season SSP
  • Mid-season rookie draft

So that’s the weirdest I’ve ever felt about a draft I don’t know what to make of it. I can’t believe that NHH wasn’t drafted. I am at a total loss how we go from trying to get Ollie Greeves into our NGA at the start of the year to not picking him at pick 56. That doesn’t intuitively make sense.

Note: if somehow either of those 2 get rookied by us tomorrow then I take it all back and our list mgt team are elite poker playing geniuses. They are well on the way with taking 4 picks and having 3 f2s.
I do hope that Greeves is picked up tomorrow. I don't know what happened off field. I assume it's more than the combine issue. Maybe going undrafted in the main draft is a deliberate kick up the bum from the club, and we'll get him tomorrow and give him the chance to work his ass off.

****ing hell we're collecting Central Districts players like a crackhead.
I've got nothing against the club, if things turned different I'd probably be supporting them being that I grew up not far from there. But if you knew the Central Districts area the crackhead reference is actually quite fitting although I'd probably change it to meth head. :laughv1:

I wasn't keen on Hetherton at all.

Nor Onley, who was linked to us in another phantom and had his fans on here.

Both went undrafted.

Crap for the boys personally, of course. I feel like people get so sucked in by height though.
Onley has zero composure with the footy. I'm actually not surprised he was passed on to this point.

St Kilda took a player in the national draft not that long ago who nearly bullied a disabled kid to death. For That piece of shit to get drafted, but Greeves and NHH not to is kinda wild to me.
I'd be very curious about the actual rationale- interviewing poorly is one thing, dodging the combine is another, but I feel like there must be something else.

Over the last few years our trading and drafting has had way more hits than misses. I feel like we are working so hard behind the scenes and this draft once again fills me with confidence. What I particularly like is that we have plans A-Z. Also, how good is our development at the moment? Not detracting from the work and natural talents of Calsher, Weddle, Ward and Wizard but I love how we are using Box Hill to get the best out of our younger players. Add Dingley (!) and I am feeling so bolshy about where our culture and player improvement will go. Losing Worps and not getting a mid big fish was disappointing but there will be future big fish to come our way eventually and in the meantime Frenchie has been handed an incentive to have an enormous pre season. Ward’s development this year also offsets the disappointment. Ward is an example of fans needing to be patient. Sometimes it all clicks and then bang. He will only get better now.

I love this club. We just made a prelim, we have a great culture, a great coach and now one of the best facilities in the league.

Interesting about Dalton (who I'd heard nothing about) but we were obviously out to get him. His draft highlights were up on the HFC site within minutes of being drafted.
We went out and made sure we got our man.
He’s a ripper. Would have loved him at the Eagles. Won the 2km time trial even after falling over at the start, accumulates and runs all day, plays inside and outside, always overlap runs for a give and go option. Probably would have got more attention if he didn’t break both his wrists at the start of the year and miss a lot of the season.

Criticisms are his kicking, versatility and size. Absolutely killed me that another club used the pick we traded to them to select him. Great kid, leader and a hard trainer. Will show up day 1 ready to work hard and will go close to winning your 2km time trial.

I am absolutely shattered that we gave up pick 52, 2 third rounders to get a victorian, who by the way had two broken wrists, how is that even possible and ruined our perfect record of central district players for the draft. Comedy at its best. That is why you cannot take anything too seriously, especially picking up kids and trying to project in 2-3 years time.

Credit to Sleepy in that he managed to get Dalton without losing a valuable future second. I think Giansiracusa now has some interesting material to work with in his first year at the club.
what are you talking about? I am absolutely shattered! giving up 2 third rounders, pick 52, for someone with 2 broken wrists (how is that even possible?) and breaking our central district drafting player policy and you think we did well? we could have got someone equivalent via rookie draft, think sewell.
