Which is why she did itCan’t say the burqa ban she is suggesting is high on my concerns as an Australian in 2026, but gee Faruqi didn’t like it.
It would have been far more powerful to ignore it and laugh than whine like a baby everytime someone in this country doesn’t act how she likes.Which is why she did it
You are one of the most prominent 'anti-immigration from Muslim majority societies' posters on this forum. It would have been far more powerful to ignore it and laugh than whine like a baby everytime someone in this country doesn’t act how she likes.

Islam isn’t a race. Completely by choice btw.You are one of the most prominent 'anti-immigration from Muslim majority societies' posters on this forum.
You clearly agree with One Nation and Hanson around banning migration from Muslim majority countries.
You've argued that migration is the downfall of the UK.
You don't want to ban religion, you want to ban migration of specific ethnicities.
It's why you, Hanson, Latham etc are racist, not atheist.
Any thoughts about the points I made in post #4055?If you only care about racism, when it's against 'white people'...
Or you only care about free speech when it's about 'hate speech'...
Or you only care about Women's rights when it's to oppose 'transgenderism'
Et al.
It's because you're lying about what you care about. And you're just a hateful bigot.
Having a wife, doesn't mean you're not sexist.
Having an Asian wife that you've stated is racist, doesn't mean you're not racist.
It's your ideology and positions of intolerance of specific groups of people, that make you a bigot.
This isn't the criticism from hanson though, she's pointing out the inconsistency. That's her criticism. The burqa is rooted in patriarchal systems that sexualise women and hide their hair, face, and body to protect men from being tempted.
While I think Pauline Hanson's stunt was silly, the response from the ALP and Greens politicians was even worse. I don't agree that criticism of misogynistic religious or cultural practices is racist, nor do I understand why progressives would protect them.
No religion or belief is automatically worthy of respect.

Which should be her right afaic. This isn't the criticism from hanson though, she's pointing out the inconsistency. That's her criticism.
hanson - 'burka not banned ok I'll wear it then'
the rest of the senate 'how dare you wear it!'
Fair enough, but what's her point? Her point was to offend using said inconsistency
Many people are of the view that Islam is incompatible with Western society and liberal values.because she incorrectly believes that islam / muslim does not fit in our liberal democracy.
That's beside the point.Checks our society is not going into Armeggedon or our society is moving to Sharia law.
Checks out, we're still a liberal democracy.![]()
I didn't see any.Any thoughts about the points I made in post #4055?
It IS her right, democracy at work.Which should be her right afaic.
I enjoyed seeing the usual suspects take offense as is their MO - Lidia and Mehreen.
And yet it we still have our 'western' (read liberal democratic) societyMany people are of the view that Islam is incompatible with Western society and liberal values.
Ok, do they have proof that our society has changed or worsened as a result? Being a member of society I don't see it.Have you read testimony from ex-Muslims who agree? It would be difficult for white progressives to label them racist, no matter how hard they try!
It SHOULD be the point. That's beside the point.
No it shouldn't, because that would undemocratic and also hypocritical.Should the burqa be banned? I'm in two minds tbh.
Which should be her right afaic.

Seems like you care more about trolling and owning the left than everyone getting along.I enjoyed seeing the usual suspects take offense as is their MO - Lidia and Mehreen.
What if she wanted to ban christian trinkets or jewish hats, would you still be tap dancing?
And these are exhibits of dismissing other points of view, effectively giving ammunition to those in opposition.Seems like you care more about trolling and owning the left than everyone getting along.

Instead of claiming trolling of the left or silly arguments about 'WoT iFS Twas A ChRISChen', how about lay argument that supports that different cultures DO fit in to our multicultural liberal democracy? Hmm?
The amount of discourse because of ridiculous dismissive / labelling is why there is discourse.
Do better.
Same goes for you evolved2 , laughing at Lidia and Farheen is what invites responses like these that you've got. Do better.
Sussan's own Operation Barbarossa not content with fighting factional battles she's opening a second front against One Nation. Good luck with that.Pauline Hanson billed taxpayers thousands for flights, private cars and hotels to attend a private court matter in Sydney in relation to her defence of a court finding that her claims made against Greens Senator Mehreen Faruqi had breached the Racial Discrimination Act.

‘Please explain’: Coalition attacks Pauline Hanson’s use of expenses for racism case
The One Nation leader will not be able to return to the Senate chamber for the final sitting days of the year after her burqa stunt.www.theage.com.au
The Coalition seized on the Queenslander’s use of expenses, arguing it was not acceptable to use public funds for a personal dispute.
Conservatives have been uneasy about brawling with Hanson since the election as public anxiety about immigration has increased. However, repeated attempts to ban Muslim head coverings and her use of expenses have opened up new terrain for Opposition Leader Sussan Ley and the Nationals to start contesting Hanson’s rise.
Pauline was going to introduce legislation for debate around Banning the 'Burqa', as a dog whistle against Muslims and other asain cultures. It was impossible for it to be ignored. It would have been far more powerful to ignore it and laugh than whine like a baby everytime someone in this country doesn’t act how she likes.
The same stunt she pulled 8 years ago, using the same costume. Rinse/Wash/Repeat.Pauline was going to introduce legislation for debate around Banning the 'Burqa', as a dog whistle against Muslims and other asain cultures. It was impossible for it to be ignored.
She kinda has to, her party is haemorrhaging votes to One Nation.Sussan's own Operation Barbarossa not content with fighting factional battles she's opening a second front against One Nation. Good luck with that.
For every vote it loses to One Nation its losing 3 votes to Labor. She kinda has to, her party is haemorrhaging votes to One Nation.
There are two problems with your argument. You're assuming Hanson's stunt was targeted against patriarchal systems instead of a dog whistle to racist nuffies and you're assertion that the response from the ALP and Greens was "even worse" is just plain wrong. The burqa is rooted in patriarchal systems that sexualise women and hide their hair, face, and body to protect men from being tempted.
