And? I can't think of an American owner suggesting two American rivals merging.

Just moronic.

I'm explaining why they may have been out of touch with the nature of the rivalry.

American teams uproot, move, change names, change colours etc all the time.

They do all the things at the bottom but they still don't ever float merging rivals.

I can only imagine how the Blades fans would feel hearing that.

They found it hilarious.

Is there a world in which it could happen? If it presented as the best financial outcome, would/could the administrators accept the offer? Despite knowing neither clubs fans want it.

I read that Administrators dismissed it straight away and that it’s not possible under EFL rules nor would it be approved by new football regulator. Too right

No, the EFL wouldn't allow it.

How tight is League One. Just six points between 6th and 19th. Just four points separate top six! Very competitive season so far
Similar in the Championship, absolutely wild.

General consensus is that the quality is a bit lacking this year and no team has yet shown proper consistency.
My mob, Bolton Wanderers, have a really deep squad, but like all the others we just can’t string wins together.
No way anyone could predict how this will finish up.

Burstow seems to have slowed down?

Burstow seems to have slowed down?
Yeah. He’s been contributing, but as a striker it all about goals and he just hasn’t kept the dynamism of the earlier games. Just like everyone else- he’s been inconsistent. He’s young, and our manager believes in him. But he may well need a spell to refresh himself.

The top 5 in the National League might have settled but it's close. It's still the rule that only the top team gets automatic promotion. The next 6 get to play off for the one other spot. We were the beneficiaries of it last season but I still find it ridiculous. York finished 2nd with 96 points. The play-off final was between Oldham on 73 points and Southend on 68.

League One has an FA Cup Round this weekend, but following that there is a 26 day period (Dec 10 to Jan 4) where teams will play 7 games.
That Dec/New Year period will be crucial. With so many league games crammed together (7 in 26 days) places in the table could see wild swings.

Carlisle currently sit in second place on the National League table, it's actually fairly tight at the top with only 2pts seperating the top 5 teams. Rochdale have two games in hand which are against Scun-thorpe (6th) and Southend (7th) so there is no guarantee they will win both and open a gap.

York is the team to watch, their recent form has been extraordinary, scoring 4/5 goals a game and blowing even the top teams away. They defeated Carlisle 5-0 a couple of months ago.
