It should be crystal clear by now that the only place the club was prepared to put the aligned players other than Williams was in that Cat-B rookie spot. Not rated high enough for anywhere else. If that was the rating, then it would have been irresponsible to make spaces just because of the feels. We see repeated criticism of jobs for the boys - that's what it would have been.

Not saying they were right - but if that was the rating, surely it would be irresponsible to make space to reach hard for them anyway?

Not disagreeing with you, but if that's how low they rated Banfield, I think they are wrong. Was absolutely worth a punt. The name factor is just a bonus.

The West guys spend pretty much the entire episode talking about the Eagles in Pre-Season. Splinters thinking Duursma the only real lock of the crop of young fellas who will play Round 1, 'He wants to play like the Bont, which is a long bow to draw cos he's a champion of the game...but I can see the similarities.'

Was also very VERY glowing of CDT but doesn't think a young ruck/forward will get blooded too early in the season. (Remember Nic Nat didn't debut until round 12)

Pretty sad when Derm is one of the only ones that has given us a fair go the past few years… as long as it doesn’t mean more Kelly or Ruby or Kate or some other aflw “star” clogging the airways

Fox decided to go in a fresh, modern direction and replaced Derm with The DJ 3000 which will make old car horn and boingoingoinggggg noises when players drop a mark or slip over.

Inb4 Tyler Brockman will make the machine explode.

Usually looked for the positives when calling the eagles in the last few years too.

I’m sad by that news. Although he could waffle at times, he genuinely loves the game and more often than not came from a place of encouragement. Especially considering he was routinely scheduled on some of the more unappealing match ups.
Disappointing. Derwayne still there. Plus Riewoldt, Lewis etc.

He was loquacious but he holds a genuine love for the game and gets excited about little positive things for players. It was sometimes tedious but mostly endearing.

However he doesn't yell enough, make constant groans, or have any catchphrases so he had to go. We need more raised voice crescendo sound bites like we get from elite callers such as Huddo, Howie and Dwayne who really know what the audience wants.

Just know I'll be copping Dangerfield for 30 years instead of Derm when he retires doing the same thing.

One of the last few current footy callers who actually likes footy. A shame.

Yeah he was hardly polished and I get some people might take the ‘good boy’ stuff as a bit patronising, but generally speaking he just wanted to watch a good game and wasn’t one of the back in my day type fossils you’d almost expect him to be given his play style.

Pretty disappointing.
